warming up the launch

The only launch coaster I've been around is WT and i've never seen it warming up. I was wondering does it take these rides along time to "warm up"? Is it possible that the first couple launches for #16 will result in the train coming back down backwards? I think it would be dope if you got launched and it only made it to the top then fell backwards then got a second "make-up" launch that completed the circuit.

I'm hoping for a rollback on any ride I get.

DELETED!

I was there once and one of the employees told me they have to run 3 (I think it was that number) empty cycles before they can run it with people, and sure enough we saw them run their first test just as we left Raptor so we ran over and were the first in line when they opened it again that day. Teenie Weenie would know more about that than I would though, but this is what I think I remember, haha.
Well, WT and #16 have totally different launch systems, so you can't compare them as far as the mechanics go.

To my knowledge, #16 wont require any type of warm up for the launch system. The tires may be a different story - I would think they would have the same problems as MF does when the tires are really cold. I'm sure an expert will chime in with some thoughts on that part.

Footnote: I will say that the whole punctuation thing is based on making things easier to read for everyone.

WT does/did warmups every morning.

My brother and I got there before the employees did last season, and we waited (we were the first inline). When the Ride Ops finally showed up, they started up WT and did about 5 launches that went right out of the station then immediately stopped, then rolled back into the station. Then to the end of the runway, then rollback. Etc..... until finally boosted it up to full power. BUT thats also for LIMs, so I dont know about hydraulics.

How about xcelerator? Has anyone ever seen this ride roll back?

I've heard that it rolls back occasionally, just like Hypersonic. If it misfires, it will roll back, but it takes a while for the train to get back to the station. I wonder if they ever release anyone that was on the ride that misfired who is too freaked out to ride again...

Apparently when Hypersonic misfires, the GP goes nuts and freaks out. I would assume the same would be true for Xcelerator as well. I sure would like a roll back anytime I ride on Dragster. It's like getting your own personal re-ride without the special occasion.

...Denial is an ugly thing.

I could be wrong but I believe that the reason that the train on WT stops while testing is not because of the LIMs warming up. But they are testing the ability to stop it so that if in an emergency and some stupid guest hops the fence and runs out they dont get hit.(Stupid guests) but I dont know for sure again you probably could ask teenieweenie she would know.

Hypesonic, ANYONE freeks out at it, rollback or not. But if it rolls back, it stops on the hill (yes, vertical) and the the breaks loosen up, one by one, untill it rolls back into the station. (I've talked to a good friend who works at PKD about this) Xcelerator dosn't have breaks on the hill, so major air time happens when it rolls back.

I so hope to be on this when it has a roll back that would be so f****** cool

Yep, I totally agree Psycho. I think they were warming up the motors + checking everything [braking capability, etc...]
I have read some about the Hypersonic rollbacks. It seems like the people at S&S may have designed it to roll back intentionally on occasion just so the possibility would add something to the ride. I believe they hinted that in a speech during its opening day. Those guys at S&S are "different," but in a good way. ;) Maybe they just said that so the public would not freak too bad if it did rollback. I have also heard about the rollback being slow on the hill and everybody freaking. Both seem to be true since I have seen the breaks on the hill and people freak when the towers on WT sway. It would be fun to be on a rollback on #16 just to see everyone react.
psycho is right, WT doesn't warm up per say, those stops you see are really tests of the light curtains and quick stops. Each section with a light curtain has to be tested to make sure it'll stop the train, same with both quick stop buttons.

My thoughts on #16's warm up would be that there is none. Once the system is charged, you're pretty much ready to go.

When i went to Knotts back in August, I got to see Xcel rollback several times. Didnt seem to cause too much commotion though. And they dont just "re-launch" it, they actually close the ride down until they adjust it and get it launching properly. Its pretty sweet to see it rollback...I would llike to experience a roll back on 16!
I really don't think #16 will have to WARM-UP!
Maybe #16 will have a built-in rollback as a part of the ride. That would certainly add huge value to it.

You mean kill capacity dont ya

WEll with XLC when they break down they had to shut down...i wouldnt mind just attempting to launch again...but sometimes it dosent even launch lol...but as for stopping i hope that Xcelerator and #16 have something to stop a train doing a rollback but if you want to see a rollback...heres a hint, when they first start testing out launch rides a couple times it will rollback...PEACE
Since all the enthusi-asses want rollbacks, we should have an event with mandatory rollbacks on your second ride, since of course, its all about us ;)

... or ... not ...

That's not a bug, that's a feature! :)
