Walt's Madness

Old Timer Tim

Ok...I know it's promoting another site but I think Jeff won't mind.

In keeping with the March Madness NCAA Basketball Tournament make sure you check this out.

http://www.virtualmidway.com/pointmadness/

Not sure we'll see alot of 1st round upsets but the rest should be quite interesting.

"Teams" to watch:
Gemini...Hey the Gemini is upset it is ONLY a 2 seed.

Blue Streak...won the conference tournament so goes into Point Madness on a high. Plus John Carroll Univeristy (Cleveland) is in the D3 semi-finals this week-end and THEY are the Blue Streaks.

Hot tip: vote *before* you look at the seeds, then see which upsets to root for.

I think this is a really cool idea. I voted and I am looking foward to seeing the results to this Point Madness.

Does Cedar Point really consider Hotel breakers and the other hotels attractions?

The first round had some tough matchups for me to make a call on, and some that were amusing. For example, one common complaint about DT is that it obscures the view of the beach, making for an interesting first round game.

The beach just barely won that one too...which I thought rather was odd.

I was surprised that Ocean Motion went down against Johnny Rockets, but that's just me.

Hi, folks? You know that the beach is the reason the park is there, right? Vote for the beach!

I think the beach is underrated, actually. Doesn't get the respect it deserves.

I know when I was a kid, and our family made 1-2 one-day trips per year, we never, EVER, went to the beach. We didn't pay $10 to go to a beach, goshdurnit!

On my first multi-day visit, with the kids, we took some time off to hang out on the beach, and had a great time. It's now part of every overnight trip, and strolling on the boardwalk happens nearly every visit. It's a great way to avoid the Corkscrew bottleneck, too.

The beach is an absolutely awesome place to relax and get awat from the crowds and the madness for awhile. It can't be beat on a hot summer day (that is, unless you've got tickets to Soak City).

The thing that I like most about the beach is sitting sometime around dusk for a while watching Wicked Twister.

The cool part of this is that you can vote and base it on any criteria you want. So say it comes down to MF v/s the Midway Carousel, it could end up being an upset by people voting on it's sentimental value or asthetics as opposed to thrills and excitement. Neat idea Walt.

Only two upsets in the first round: Wildcat over WWL and Laser Show over Pagoda. I guess if I would have picked all of the higher seeds I would have done fine... Going this route, the final four will be all of the number ones! I had eight upsets picked, not one came true. My lower right bracket is hurting after Candle Shop's loss.

GO GEMINI!
