Waiting Times

Does anyone know how long the line for MF is supposed to be?
It's *supposed* to be a walk-on. Sadly, it won't be.

Guh! A WALK ON?!?! Hah, have the people that said that BEEN to Cedar Point in the last 30 years?!:)
For the first year a rollercoaster's wait is about 2 hours atleast!

-------------
14 and counting
See my Po!nt?
"Dont post if there is nothing to post about"
Also, the max capacity of MF is about 100 people per hour less than most other coasters at CP :(. However, this shouldn't make too much of a difference, maybee 10 to 15 min at most. :).

(This was according to the data that I remember reading on the official page.)

-------------
"the Force of the new Millennium will be felt by those who choose to seek it."
Only 100 riders per hour?!?!

-------------
Cedar Point will never again be the same.
100 riders! hmmm....Let's see with three trains they move 108 people through the line. So it's definitely not 100.

On the official site it says "Ride Capacity: Approximately 1,600 riders per hour" This is probably wrong since Jeff said it's running faster than they thought. So we could be looking at 1800 and possibly even 2000 riders per hour. Let's just hope that it's this high.
JT meant 100 less than average of other rides, just to clarify. He isn't stupid hehe.

Let's look at it this way, it's the world's first giga-coaster, so be prepared for a l o n g wait.
All rides are supposed to be walk-ons from my perspective. If only the rest of you would just stay home the day I come to the park... :-)

A new ride, and people expect it to be walk on?! Someone needs to visit CP some day and see how much of a walk on it really is.

I don't think you guys understood the comment right. I don't think anyone is foolish enough to think MF will ever be a walk on. Especially on the first day. He meant it's *supposed* to be a walk on in terms of it would be nice if it were a walk on. Correct me if I'm wrong.
You're correct, RockDown2G. I was just giving the bottom line.

This has come up several times, and I'm not going to get all academic about it again, but consider that the total capacity of all coasters (not counting other rides) is in the tens of thousands, and that's not even counting flat rides, transport rides, restaurants, people walking, etc. What I'm getting at is that it would be silly for anyone to get in a line that has more than 3,200 people in it (two hours) because that would account for 10% of the entire guest population in one place (assuming some kind of average attendance of 32,000 people). That means a lot of empty rides.

The queue was designed to hold a 3 hour wait.

Now why would they do a thing like that?? Are they expecting that nobody will ride anything else? Most of the queues, INCLUDING the Mean Streak queue, are built to accommodate about a 70 minute wait at full capacity.

Of course that means three hours for Mantis, but what can you do when the train is that difficult to load.....

Jeff is right. With as many coasters as Cedar Point has, they can give about 19,640 roller coaster rides per hour. If people didn't all rush for the same ride at the same time, NOBODY would have to wait very long.

Rideman, I agree with your theory about "If people didn't all rush for the same ride at the same time, NOBODY would have to wait very long." The problem with that is sometimes you skip a coaster because the line is too long, so you return later and the line may still be long, so maybe you skip it again and return later, and it's Still long. It's a no-win situation on some days.

Just like people have stated before everyone seems to go directly to Raptor because of its location so close to the entrance. I think its human nature to want to ride the newest ride, or coolest ride first.

But I will say that if I have to wait 3 hours to ride MF I wouldn't do it, I would wait till some other day to give it a go.

Somehow I knew Dave would have that number! :)

Actually, Jeff, the number came straight from the CP web site...just add up the posted capacities for all the coasters....(and realize that some of them are wrong, but that's another matter...)

Guys, you are forgetting that not all rides run at full capacity on crowded days. Cedar Point sometimes has the problem of not running at full capacity towards the end of the season. A perfect example of this is Gemini last year. All the Blue trains where taken off track before October. Mine Ride was only running two trains last season as well. If Millennium Force has something go wrong with one of the trains then they might need that queue.

Magnum may have sunk, but Millennium Force will rise!
