Wait time for weekdays

Hello we will be arriving to CP in two weeks to be in the park on Monday and Tuesday. What is the usual wait time for the coasters during the week? Hoping the wait is not near as bad as the weekend.

Goodbye MrScott

The faq is not very helpful. We are driving like 15 hours to go to CP and don't really like the idea of standing in line for hours to ride one ride. They need to have a flash pass or something in my opinion so that people can do other things at the park than stand in line all day long for 3 or 4 rides which is a bunch of crap. With that being said, we are going to be at the park on a monday and tuesday in 2 more weeks. Can someone give me a ballpark figure of what kind of wait time I might be looking at on these days? 1 hour or less? 2 hours? If anyone can take a guess as to what the wait time might look like it would be appreciated.

Unfortunately the FAQ is vague for a reason. It is very hard to gauge what crowds are going to be like on any given day. So this is an estimate, but it could go either way. You will probably have to wait 1-2 hours for Millennium, Dragster, and possibly more for Maverick. Raptor should be an hour or less. Everything else as far as major coasters go should be 15 minutes to 45 minutes. But this could vary as well. You would benefit in reading some of the articles that explain how to hit all the rides in one day. Some of them are dated, but they should still be a good guide. Hope that helps.

3. Basically, all things being equal (i.e. dry weather), here is a breakdown of the busiest days, in order: Saturday, Wednesday/Monday/Friday/Thursday/Tuesday/Sunday. There are exceptions to this "rule" if it rains. If it rains on one day, the next dry day will see a bump in attendance.

It's anyone's guess on wait times. It depends on the attraction and many other variables. Most coasters on a Monday or Tuesday will be less than an hour (estimated guess).

I pray that CP never brings anything like the flash pass back again.

Ride on, MrScott!

Okie, lines for the big rides (TTD, MF, Raptor and when it opens Mavrick) regularly reach north of two hours even on realtivly normal crowds. When the park is packed many rides join those three and lines may go north of 3 hours. Will it be crowded? No idea. Heres a way to beat the crowds though, get there early and stay there late for that is when the lines are the shortest. Also keep in mind that if you are in a line at closing you will be allowed to ride that ride provided you dont leave the line.

If you cant stand lines then I strongly suggest you dont go to Cedar Point, because you are going to, and just accept it, in two days you will have plenty of time to ride. Lines are simply a fact of amusement park life.

Also, a suggestion, the reason that the faq is there is because people ask about it constantly and there is no real rhyme nor reason to when the park is crowded. There is no use poluting the forum with multiple "will it be crowded" messages, it dilutes the interesting topics.

A Monday and Tuesday in two weeks... you should be fine. 2 hour lines for Dragster and Millie at the most. Standing in lines is a bunch of crap? Well, it's the only way you're gonna get on the ride. Sorry. If you don't think a ride on Dragster is worth a two hour wait, then wait till later for a shorter line. The #3 roller coaster in the world is a short walk up the midway from Dragster and it will probably have no wait at all.

So, if you already have your trip planned, what does it matter what the crowds are like?

If we say it's going to be dead, and its busy, you're going to be upset at us for lying to you.

If we say it's going to be busy, you're going to worry about it for 2 weeks.

Just go and have fun. A day at Cedar Point is better than a day at work. *

I reject your disclaimer!

It's really not that great after the initial "wow" wears off. You end up listening to all their problems and gripes about their life and the other dancers. Although, the money was good. If I hadn't had a decent job with benefits I'd have probably kept doing it.

Ride on, MrScott!

Am I wrong? 2 hours is usually what I see on a busy weekday.

Lines vary greatly even within the same day. Raptor is a perfect example. It's usually a long line in the morning, but much shorter wait in the afternoon. How can anyone give an answer to "how long will the lines be?" Even if someone could predict the future, the answer would only be correct for certain times of the day.

It's an open-ended question without a real answer. Even those in this thread attempting to answer the question - people who visit the park on a regular basis - can't agree on a time.

Instead of worrying about the amount of time you might spend in any given line at any given time of day, you're better off exploring strategies that will give you an advantage on any day you might visit. Arrive before the park opens. Hit the most popular coasters early. Work your way from the back of the park to the front. Don't assume you have to wait in a long line (there's probably a shorter one somewhere else).

Like Walt said, work from the back of the park to the front. I have always found this to be a much better plan than starting at the main gate. If you're staying at a resort, take advantage of the ERT to get rides in on Millenium, Raptor, and Dragster (if Maverick's not yet open). Even if you can't use ERT, head straight to Millenium and worry about everything else later. Loop around the back of the park after hitting Dragster in the morning as well. By early to mid-afternoon the crowds have shifted and the line for Raptor could easily be half and hour or shorter.

Like it's been said, there's no way to predict crowds. I wish there were, but waiting in line is just part of going to a park. Personally, I have found the first week of June to be pretty slow at the park, I think school's are just getting out and nobody's going that week. Then again, I thought a weekday in May would be slow too, but it was actually pretty crowded.

Just have fun! Going into it with a negative attitude about lines can totally take away from your experience on the rides!
