It looks like the live cam won't be near GateKeeper since Tony didn't like how it looks, and now on CP's facebook page people can vote on three different locations on where to put it. Either near Kiddie Kingdom looking toward the front of the park, near the Palace Theater facing Maverick, or on the Gemini Midway. I voted for the one on the Gemini Midway since I don't think there's ever been a cam there before, and right now that's the option that's winning.
Here's Tony's blog about it: https://www.cedarpoint.com/blog-article/online-fun/Vote-Early-Vote-Often
Once again, I love how the park has been starting to really use technology and social media.

Well so much for an exciting live cam location. To me those offer nothing in terms of fun things to watch live. I was hoping to have lots of rides and fun activity to watch in the picture. I think the main problem with all of the web cams is that they all have wide angle lenses which tend to push things further into the background than they appear in real life.
I still think the view from the shoot the rapids deck would be a great location. Occasional close up views of the train in the immediate foreground, big splashes and great views of the camel backs and back turns of Millennium, in addition to glimpses of Gemini and other things as well. Oh well, stranded in Colorado and missing the point.
The ONLY thing I care about with regard to webcams (live or still image) is the ability to estimate crowd levels. Oh, and maybe wind speed, but the parking lot cam of the flag already provides that.
A live image of the midway is completely useless to me. But I'm just one vote...
Well, I can't vote nor can I download Adobe on my Android Tablet, but I would go with Gemini location also.

Honestly I'm surprised the idea of having a cam on the lift hill be a live feed. Put one on Gatekeeper's lift hill facing riders as they come up or something. I understand that's a big task but it'd be a unique view :)
I wish someone would put a live cam at either of the skyride towers looking any direction. You could judge park capacity, if some rides were down, and Skyride does offer a great view of some areas you can't argue that.
Ah well I'm not at CP PR Dept. :P So I'll make do with what we have haha
