I wouldn't call myself a "Roller coaster" fan, I didn't become interested in riding coasters until 1999, when I first visited Islands Of Adventure" in Orlando, Florida. As a matter of fact, I was deathly afraid of "looping" coasters until then. But now, 2 years later, I have ridden every roller coaster in Florida.
Now, I will be traveling 21&1/2 hours to get to Cedar Point. All of my ridding experiences 'til now have been wonderful. But they have been the same. I live in Plantation Florida, and have only one place to go: up; to central Florida. I have visited "Islands of Adventure"(My favorite amusement park thus far) 5 times, "Bush Gardens" 1, and been to "Walt Disney World" (Hey, space mountain is a classic folks) numerous times. As much as we love "Islands Of Adventure", we felt it was time for a change of scenery, and roller coasters for our next trip. Where else to go? We decided since I now love coasters (especially the looping ones) we would venture to "America's Roller Coast"
I write to you fine people for any information that might make my 21&1/2 hour journey be worthwhile. Please include any info about lines, crowds, (we are going the the week of August 12th) best things to, best time to do stuff, etc. Please! Give me anything you can to help. One question I'll ask right here is, do they have some kind of nightly firework show or anything? I know the park closes at 8 the week I go so it may be to dark. But do they have anything?
Sorry, hit submit too early. Thanks for anything you can help with. I am extreamly excited about going and want this to be as perfect as possible.
Thanks

You are going to the mecca of amusement parks. I too like IOA, the theming is incredible, but Cedar Point has so many world class coasters it isn't even funny. The park actually closes at 11 PM the week you are going, and there will be a laser light show. As far as lines go, head to the back of the park first and stay there until early afternoon. Then, hit the front of the park. There is a wealth of strategy guides on the internet for Cedar Point, so be sure to check those out.
For a preview of the park, be sure to watch "World's Largest Amusement Park" Monday July 16th at 10 PM on Discovery Channel. It will help you picture the park a little bit better.
Hope that helps!

Well I have been once and what I have been told, if you want to hit all 14 of the coasters in one day, you need to go to the back of the park because most people start in the front and then work their way to the back. I however, can't wait to ride the Millennium Force, I don't know how much you know about it though. It's 310 feet high, 93 MPH, and drops at a 80 degree angle. So I go there first. Right when the gates open, take off. You have to run in order for you to make in under an hour wait. if you don't go there first. The lines are up to 2 hours or more almost all the time.
Or you could do what I did, still can't believe no one has explained this in detail yet:
Park in the main lot and walk down the perimiter road to the Marina Entrance (be there by 8:30 at the latest or you'll regret it) and wait until the national anthem plays and the gates open, once you're past the gate
take a hard left past the IMAX Theater and run like you've never run before in your life to the entrance to the Millennium Force queue. If all goes well you'll be on one of the first 5 trains that leaves the station with the GP on it. Then after your amazing ride, you'll want to go over to Mantis which is across from Millennium Force, since the line will indefinitly be the longest in the park during your visit unless you hit it first thing in the morning. After that you'll want to head towards the front of the park for Raptor. If the line for the Skyride station that takes you to the front of the park is short, take it, just to give your feet a rest, if not, you'll have to walk. Take your time, the longest you'll probably wait for Raptor either way is 45 minutes, after conquering the 3 coasters that will have the longest lines all day, do what you want and take your time, this is what I did and I never waited more than an hour for anything.

I stay crunchy...even in milk!
I'd have to disagree with going to ride Raptor in the morning after MF and Mantis. The line for Raptor unusally thins out in the late afternoon early evening. This is because most people hit it in the morning and don't have a reason to go back to the front of the park. Also, this is the best time to ride Raptor because the bearings have warmed up and make for a fast, intense ride.
I think you should head up the Frontier Trail after you ride MF and Mantis. Ride Cedar Creek Mine Ride, Mean Streak, Gemini, Woodstock Express (family coaster), skip Jr. Gemini (unless you have a young kid with you), then hit Magnum, Corkscrew, and Power Tower. These coasters are located in a big circle around the back of the park.
You can see what I mean if you look at the map on the official website.
Yep yep, CP_bound has got it. Run to MF, then do Mantis, then head to the back of the park and do everything there, then do Gemini, Magnum, Corkscrew, Power Tower, Iron Dragon, Wildcat, then head to the front of the park and do Blue Streak, Disaster Transport, and Raptor.

Steuks!!
Yoda,
Where do you live in Plantation? I live real close by.
Thanks everybody! Keep any info you have comming please! I am going for two days. So Im not really worried about not being able to get every coaster in one day. What kind of laser light show is it? Oh, does anyone know where I can see a map of the park online? And I live on Cleary Blvd. in Plantation. Keep any info coming!
THANKS
LUKE-"I-I can't believe it!"
YODA-"That is why you fail."
I highly recomend going to the back of the park first if at all possiable, unless you just absolutley cant wait to ride MF, my friend and I used the magnum entrance since we stayed at hotel breakers, We were first in line for magnum both days we were there, as everyone runs to MF, then we hit Gemini, followed by Cedar Creek, then Mean Streak, then we did white water landing, we had five rides under our belts in less than an hour, as all the rides were virtual walk ons, then just hit whatever you feel like, its a good idea to plan a couple of rides ahead, that way your not wasting time trying to figure out what to ride, also since your spending two days, if a line is long skip it and come back later, as a general rule the lines usually wont get any longer, hit MF in the evening you can get lucky and wait around 45 minutes around 5 or 6, also be sure to squeze in a night ride on MF, it is worth whatever you have to wait!!!!!! Hope this helps!!

Here is the online map...should give you a decent idea where the Marina gate is...and the path there; if all else fails follow the rest of the smart people that are at that gate :0 Basically, your easily gaining yourself a min EASILY on the people; the length of the skyride basically :)

Marina Gate is the way to go!! I just went on Friday and had a wonderful time. We had breakfast at the Boathouse restaurant and then were able to go in the Marina Gate. We got to the gate around 9:00 (not too bad of a line) and then when the gates opened we hightailed it over to Millenium Force (WOW!) :) Only a 15 minute wait. We were then able to walk onto Iron Dragon and then less than 5 minute wait for Mantis. Then we headed to the back of the park and made our way through. Lines were wonderful all day. 25 minutes for Raptor mid-day was the worst line until the last ride on MF which was still under 45 (and we were expecting that line to be longer at the end of the day). Have Fun!! Oh and buy your tickets early (either on line or AAA has an almost $10 discount) so you don't have to stand in a ticket line first thing.
After doing a search :) on tickets I still have a question. Does the Marina entrance have a ticket booth? Also, what time do the booths open? I'm going tomorrow(thursday).
I'll admit my first question is somewhat obvious but at least I didn't open another "first time to CP thread"!
