The whole thing is a big moving target full of unknown unknowns. I'm surprised the state has given opening targets for as many industries as it has. I suspect we're going to learn a lot in the coming weeks as things reopen, and virtually all available data points to big spikes in virus numbers and potential future shutdowns of everything that just opened back up. I suspect they want to have very good data on these smaller reopenings before they even think about addressing large venues. It sucks, but it's definitely the right approach.

Soft open 3rd week of June. Full open 4th week of June Hotel Breakers Rooms reservations are available June 15th.
From how the park looks from my vantage point, that isnt remotely possible.
And to throw a little salt on the wound, CP had a water main break on the Causeway this morning. Everyone coming and going from the park has to use the Chaussee. Im thankful for that 1 million gallon water tower right now.

Wow this is turning into a biannual occurrence it seems. (Did it happen in 2018?)
Makes me sad knowing Pete isn't on the scene is his boat giving us some pics and video.

Am I the only one thinking whether or not they open, they need to be running the rides regardless? I work in manufacturing, and when you shut large machines (5 stories tall, very large footprints) they do not run well for a while. I've heard from friends in the airline business (I am by no means an expert, just small tall between friends), they've told me that planes are not meant to sit around and not fly for any extended amount of time. I am only saying this because all the talk about things running. I would say just because things are running, it wouldn't necessarily indicate opening. At all.

I’m reading remarks from people who’ve had their Breakers reservations for August cancelled.
That's weird. I just rescheduled my reservation yesterday from late June to late July, and nobody mentioned anything about cancellation to me. Not saying you have bad info, it's just odd that they seem to be cancelling some reservations and not others.

Mine was cancelled for CoasterMania weekend, early June. I had heard people say theirs were cancelled through 6/21, but you can make reservations for Lighthouse Point that weekend. Not disregarding what you said but it’s weird that you can still make reservations.

In that case, wouldn't all seasonal parks run their rides during the off season?

Somewhat true. It depends on the conditions in which the aircraft are stored and how they are mothballed. Low humidity environment prevents corrosion. High humidity, salt, and or wetness promotes corrosion. Most major airlines mothballed their fleets in full-scale storage facilities in Arizona and Victorville, California.

We had reservations for Lighthouse Point for June 1 - 5th. About 2 weeks ago I went online to chat and cancel just to get it over with. However, instead of cancelling, the agent suggested I consider pushing our reservation out into July with no fee increase and the same promise of a 100% refund.
Se we did.
Now we're booked July 5th - 9th.

Maybe they are lowering the number of available rooms at Breakers this year and those that had theirs cancelled in August may have been due to the hotel being overbooked.

I'm not sure what it is about Giant Wheel specifically that makes anyone draw conclusions one way or the other. If the park does open in the coming months, it will almost assuredly not be operating all rides. And also, we've seen that the park is preparing some other rides, so putting the cabins on seems entirely practical, if that is one of the rides they intend to run. But in terms of a timeline, I don't think it means anything. In any case, I'll continue to use the park's announcements as my barometer as to when they will re-open.
Well, yeah, obviously nothing is official until CP announces it. But if any ride opens it'll be the Giant Wheel, which is pretty safe to run: you can only put 4 people in a car, it's totally outdoors, the cars are 'socially distanced' from each other, and the ride goes slowly so people don't have to worry about their masks coming off (and if it's all members of one family they don't have to wear masks at all). I think out of all the CP rides, The Giant Wheel and the carousels/Cedar Downs are the safest to operate, from a COVID point of view.

That's kind of what I was wondering, like if they are expecting a staffing shortage and the need to cap attendance maybe they are clearing specific wings of the hotel and leaving others booked.
^^^ The other argument could be that Giant Wheel is a very low capacity ride and if there is a shortage of employees the park may choose to use them in a way that provides the most rides possible for guests and so it wouldn't be a big priority to open it compared to others. I think it would be more likely to move ride crews around and have them skip from ride to ride throughout the day but no telling at this point. I imagine if things are running that they have at least not been told "no" for the entire season yet if they were informed that the entire season is a bust I would thing they would just pack everything back up like they do for winter at some point.

Could’ve been an Internet Lie.
S’ok. I got nothing in it.
I don't think they were lying. It seems like if you take the time to contact them, they are at least suggesting to move the dates. If you do nothing, they are cancelling you. Our date was getting closer, and I had also heard of people getting cancelled; she also mentioned that we would have gotten an email regarding our cancellation. They just hadn't gotten around to our particular reservation yet.
