virginia reel

Could anybody explain to me what virginia reel is or means?
TTD, you need to slow the trains before they change it up.

Some of my best coasters in RCT were Virginia Reels. The trick is to not have them go too fast into a corner.

As far as I know, there are no Virginia Reels still in existence. There are some historical photos about; try the book "The American Roller Coaster" by Scott Rutherford. I think it has a few pictures in it, and a decent explanation.
I thought there was still one operating at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in England.
My recollection is that the Blackpool Reel is closed, but I think I read this in The American Roller Coaster, too. Coaster Grotto mentions that the ride was demolished in 1982.
