The bids start at $75. I have a budget of $1000, I figure 150 to 200 will get you on

Duh! You don't start telling people what you're going to bid! What are you, new? Keep your intentions private.

Geeze.

For those of you who have used eBay before, apply the same rules.

I agree. Heck, I'm even going out on a limb (for me) by saying "I'm bidding"...
personally i don't think 150-200 will get you anything at all... and on the web site it says "On May 13, 2000, only 36 riders will be among the first to be dropped 300 feet reaching an unprecedented speed of 92 mph.
Will you be one of them?" what the hell does that mean? does that mean that... after those 36 ride we aren't allowed on it??

The first train of 36 commoners will be the week before when the basket company is there. If you are at the park when they open, you will be on in the first hour.

I am not serious about my $1000 budget, if someone actually spends that much, they are either a no life loser or have money to burn, but I guess if you have it and being the 20,000th person to ride it means that much, go for it.

As for me, I just got put a down payment on a 175hp Jet Boat at the sports show so I may forget about the first ride after all, the boat will last a lot longer than something I will ride anyway, but, you never know I guess...
how do you know for sure that MF will even be operating on the buy-out day???

"I think I scrambled my brain!!"
Because it will be operating by the end of April, that's how! Do you think they wouldn't have the major new attraction ready for opening day.

This isn't Six Flags Ohio we're talking about (their new coasters won't be ready until June or July).
but the OFFICIAL opening day is MAY 13TH!! NOT buy-out day. that's all i meant...sheesh.

"I think I scrambled my brain!!"
For the good cause, being first ride on OFFICIAL opening day is pretty cool. Yeah, tons of people will have gone before then, but so what. It's a good cause (and a tax deduction ;) )

Now, if it were the ADA I'd be even more likely to bid ;) (Well, maybe, I don't always agree with what they're doing, but that discussion belongs on a completely different board :) )

(As for Six Flags Ohio, "June or July" sounds a bit off. I think at least SOME of the new rides will be ready.) *** This post was edited by GregLeg1 on 3/21/2000. ***
The Plain Dealer reported last week that their new floorless coaster would definitely not be ready before June. The new woodie may be ready by then
