Villain as of late

I just had to comment on Villain's craziness as of last weekend, I rode it three times on Sunday and it was running faster than I have ever experienced it running. Mean in the backseat, crazy in the front and just right in the middle.

People were actually leaving the ride laughing and smiling, which is something I have never seen. Usually people are swearing to never get on it again.

I too had a great ride. I came in as a guest, without knowing that the ride had improved! Boy was I suprised!
They've retracked a few portions of the ride I've heard. Maybe this is part of it, I don't know. All I can say is that I got some crazy Villain night rides recently. After it's rained, I find the night rides to be insane.
I rode it for the first time a couple weeks ago, I call it Geauga Lake's Mean Streak, kind of reminds me of it in a way, I thought I was going to hit my head on some of those wooden beams! Great coaster though.
The "trick track" was re-tracked this year and that's been it so far. Villain is the best ride in the park, just needs a little more tlc on it, and it'll be just fine (just work on the track and don't change the trains). *** Edited 7/28/2004 3:42:54 PM UTC by Magnum XL-200***

I found Villan to be a great ride in the front, no more rough than Blue Streak or Shivering Timbers. It's a great ride IMHO, and I don't think it gets the recognition it deserves.

It was definately faster this last week than it was just a month earlier.

The trains are awkward to sit in, with their almost straight seatbacks, lapbars and no padding anywhere.

I agree the trains are what's holding that coaster back. It's SO uncomfortable. I tend to bang my legs into the restraint bars on turns which also doesn't feel good. I noticed last year that they replaced Raging Wolf Bob's trains with the same kind and it has gone from "OK" to unrideable for me. It used to have cushions and seat dividers and non-rathcheting bars and was about as comfortable as you could expect for a trains that likes to throw you left/right more than anything else during the ride (kind of lame in terms of the drops). Now it's just "pain fest" IMO. Villain is better, but still painful (which takes the fun out of it). I think the smaller your body frame is the more comfortable those trains would be whereas (having shifted weight classes a lot over the years), I've always thought trains like Magnum's felt and worked better for heavier guys (I got a better ride on Magnum when I was 290 in the past than at 255 this year as the point where the lap bar rests shifts as you gain or lose weight).

I tend to think Villain would rock if it had better trains. As it is, it's just OK for me (balancing out the pleasure versus the pain). I prefer The Big Dipper (which is totally comfortable with all that knee padding and extra room if you ride by yourself).

Where is/was the trick track and why is it called that?

The trick track is a combonation of right and left bankings on a straight section of track. If you have been on Shivering Timbers its one of the final elements before the double helix.

Ah, yess. Been on ST many times. Thanks
I think the trick track is the most pointless coaster element.

If you keep your legs together like a prissy woman your legs dont get beat up as much. Thats how I ride and my legs feel fine.

rathofdoom, the trick track is located at the bottom of the second hill leading up to the first turn around.

Yes I do agree that the Villan was much better this year than years past. It has become my second favorite coaster at the park my first being the ever great Dominator. The best thing was that you hardly had to wait at all to ride it like most of the other coasters. The Mean Streak used to be my favorite but the Villian tops the Mean Streak big time.

Just imagine how great it'll be when they get done retracking it next year.

Or get rid of that trick track...

It's the only part of ST that I don't get and on the Villain it is even worse. The trick track on the villain is taken so fast is just feels like pure pain rather than a throwback to Harry Traver's (it was him, right?)genius. I love the idea of the trick track, but it just doesn't do it for me. Regardless, I'm looking forward to the condition of Villain, RWB, and the Big Dipper next year.

the villan is very rough. its good that they are rehabing it

I personally think the most comfortable trains are on The Racer at Kennywood. With great cushioning and seat dividers, it gives a great ride. I dont know why more woodies dont have these trains.

And I wouldnt mind seeing millenium flyers on RWB's. Like the trains on the thunderbolt.

Don't ask why, but I think the trains on the Conneaut Lake Blue Streak are so cool. The loose seat belt and just a bar to hold on to make it a killer ride (in a good way). But on my Villain, too many people would fly out, therefore causing the park to close down.

I haven't been to Geauga Lake this year, but I'm happy to hear they've fixed up my favorite ride. In my opinion, Villain is up there with Shivering Timbers and the Coney Island Cyclone (Waaaah, I want a Nathan's now, mommy! Li'l Miss Villain is getting homesick! ...but anyway...)

And I always thought a trick-track was like a CCI trademark element or something, but it is pretty pointless.
