View from the sky

On closing day, I flew over the park. I took a look at the new ride and you can definately tell it is going to be nothing more than launch, tophat, brakes. However, the size of this thing is massive. It was really unbelievable to see this thing compared to Millennium Force and Power Tower. Those supports are huge and the triangle that is formed in the center of the support is huge. Pictures clearly don't do justice to this coaster.
did you fly over it or thru it :)

Well, I tried to get a good close up but didn't want to scare my passenger! ;)

Actually, I did notice the Point doesn't have a whole lot of room to expand. I know, I know. Cedar Point doesn't have a space problem(TM). However, any new coasters as big as Millennium Force, Raptor, Magnum, are going to need a very strategic location. The 2003 ride has somewhat restricted anything from going on the island.

I think we'll see rides like Mantis find their way onto Cedar Point in the near future. However, a nice woodie could easily fit on the beach.

I'm all for Millennium Island being nothing more than what it is now. I think it would ruin the "racing through the trees" feel that Millennium Force will have as those trees mature, if another ride was to be intertwined.

Were you the guy in the Cessna-size aircraft that flew over at about 400 feet mid afternoon?

I was commenting to my wife "That's probably som e coaster fanatic from virtual midway trying to get aerial pictures of project 2003"

Considering 400 feet would be extremely dumb and illegal, that wasn't me.
MrCoaster....can i see those pics by any chance?
I never said I had any pictures.

However, if I had them, you bet they would be online. ;)
