Video Camras on rides

We just got a new video camera and when we go to CP the next time we will defently bring it. My point is that senice my mother and friends want to go so bad and they can't. So for them can we bring video cameras into the park, or do we need to have a licens, and can we bring them on rides like Raptor, Mean Streak, Gemini, etc. but no on the bigger rides like Top Thrill Dragster or Millennium Force. So is that okay???

On cedarpoint.com they don't talk about video cameras.

You can NOT bring them on rides.

The only rides, if I remember correctly, that you can use them on is Space Spiral, CP&LE Railroad and possibly Paddlewheel Exchursions if I remember.

Other than that, it's grounds for being removed from the park and possibly banned form the park.

So we can bring them into the park freeley and we don't need any licens ok.

Yes... as long as it's not for commercial use.

You can definitely bring a video camera into the park. I brought one in on my trip to CP this past June. Just can't bring one onto rides.
We also allow them, even though everything says no, on Sky Ride. Just don't be a dork and lean over the side real far to get that perfect picture, b/c if we see you do it we'll most likely not-so-politely remind you about not sitting down, not leaning out of the cabins, etc. Yep. ;)
Bring the camera. Bring it in. Take lots of pictures.

Just not while riding.

You can even carry the camera on most rides if you're reasonable about it, but DON'T SHOOT WHILE RIDING. Those jerks who ignore the rules and do are the ones gradually making life miserable for the rest of us.

Yeah, you better have a pretty safe padded bag, or someone who won't be riding many rides. Unless the ride sign states otherwise (such as TTD, MF, Corkscrew, PT....) all loose articles must be taken with you. Picture taking whether still ot motion picture is not allowed. So for a day without gettign warnings, you can bring your camera, but keep it in a bag while riding. If you are really worried, make sure you read every ride sign before you ride.

I would personally suggest giving it to a non-rider in your party, because I wouldn't want the camera damaged. It's your risk if you do take it on the ride. If you catch my drift.

Does commercial mean on a website?
------------------
"What's wrong with the offseason? It's when the fun stuff happens!" - Annonymous Cedar Point Employee
From what I take of the word commercial in its use in todays world.

Chris' Dictionary of Todays World words - (Commercial - 1. Any means of using an object, photo, picture, or display of anything for the sole means of making money for oneself or a company; 2. Selling. Examples: TV Commercial, charging for a hollywood copyrighted movie in a public place or just a public audience in general. Putting a video on a personal website in which you do not make money is not commercial)

According to that you can go to CP make a home video. Put it on your website as long as it is a personal website in which you do not make profit off of.

How about a real dictionary the law will recognize.

Merriam Webster online
(It's too long for me to copy so go there and enter commercial. Look at Commercial 1 Adjective)

According to that definition.Yes, you can still put it on a personal webpage so long as you aren't making money. (Edit to make a complete answer after reading Robs post below) and so long as you are not violating park policies to get your shots.
