Very old Cedar Point map!

http://photobucket.com/albums/v181/Rcjoshman/CP%20Map/

I just got this on ebay, and I thought I'd share it with everyone. There's no year on the map, but I can tell by looking at it that it's from 1972-1974. If someone has a more accurate answer then tell me please!

Anyway, I just thought I'd share that with you guys. Happy offseason :-)

It's not '74 because the gazebo is still there and the Bay Horbor bulding isn't in it's current location. The old Yacht CLub building is still there.

I'm placing it as '73 as all the '72 additions are in place.

P.S. Since when did early 70's become "Very Old" ??? What's the average age on this site these days anyways???

You're buyin up the CP stuff there on ebay aren't ya?

I was looking at some stuff on ebay and saw that you were bidding on a few things. That video i was going to bid on but, i decided not to.

Agree with Rob...since when did the early 70's become "very old"?!?

Ah...I miss the old Jumbo Jet!! but I certainly do NOT miss the Sky Slide. I was never able to ride that thing without getting friction burns.

Hmmm....sorry for the age shock. I figured a 33 year old map could be considered "old" mainly because it was 14 years before I was born and the face of CP has completely changed since then, sorry.

You should have seen CP in 1966.

I wasn't even born yet, so I can't remember this, I love looking at CP history though. Very cool!

And seen CP in 1962. I still remember the round two seat cabins on the Sky Ride.

The sky slide burns are one of the very vivid memories I have of visiting the park with my parents.

My father and I would always compare burns at the end of the day.

Sticking to the wall in Rotor and going through Funhouse are my favorite memories when I first went in the early '70's.

They didn't happen to be blue, did they? Because I always thought the ski lift-type benches back in the boneyard were from the Frontier Lift.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

How much did you pay for that Josh, if you don't mind me asking? I've seen a few nice old maps as well as old brochures but they go for a rather high price.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I may have paid a little too much for it. In fact, when I placed my bid, I could've sworn that someone else had already bid higher, but once it told me I was the highest bidder, I was actually hoping that someone would've outbid me before the auction ended. The total came to around $47. Before I got it the other day, I was thinking that I would just resell and try to make a profit, but after I opened it I took a quick look at it and it went straight on the wall.

It's interesting to see how much green open space was available that is now occupied by Corkscrew, PT, Magnum, TTD, etc.

Paper items from that era are getting really hard to find. It took a couple of years of real vigilant searching on eBay to get a copy of the 1974 souvenier map to replace the one that I had that my ex destroyed. It also cost considrably more than the original price of, what was it, fifty cents?

I just bought a 1966 cedar point brochure on ebay for $27. I should have it in a couple days. It was listed as being in Excelent Condition.

If it's not too delicate, I may scan it and post it on my site.

My girlfriend and I have been buying CP maps for about 2 years. I've put together a decent collection, but I'm always looking for new listings. I only have one map from the '70s-1979. However, I have a 1982, Two 1983/1984 (I don't think there's a difference), 1988, Two from 1991, Two from 1994, 1996, 1999, Two from 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and a whole bunch from 2004 and 2005. Those are the easy ones. :)

Maybe I should hold on to the 60+ 2003 and 2004 brochures that I have sitting in a box somewhere. I organized a group trip in 2002 and for the next 2 years I got fedex packages with about 30 brochures each in them.

I have a picture of me and my sister standing in the midway. I was 12. That was in 1962. I took the same pix about 2 years ago standing in the same spot. If I knew how to do pictures on this I would show you.
