Vekomas

I'm a little new to some things discussed here. I have a question. What are Vekomas; any examples you can give me?

All the wonderful Deja Vu coasters at 6flags are vekomas. Deja Vu: it wasn't working the last time I came, and it still isn't working now.

Well, Woodstock's Express is a Vekoma and, though I have not ridden it, if it is similar to Goofy's Barnstormer at WDW it is probably a good little ride.
Well, if you're asking what 'Vekomas' are, the general answer is simply that Vekoma is a company that manufactures coasters, just like Intamin or B&M (but of a substantially lesser quality, in my opinion). They are probably best known for the SLCs (suspended looping coasters) that populate many-a Six Flags across the country.
Like the tortureous Serial Thriller? So they are pretty much generic versions of the Raptor.

To an earlier comment, yes, the Woodstock Express is actually a really cool and fun ride for a kid's coaster. I got to ride it with my boyfriend's niece last year and it cooks for a little ride.

I've been on WE a couple of times with my daughter, who positively loves it. This morning, on the way to day care, she told me that she was going to pretend that the minivan was Woodstock Express; there's a small "airtime hill" on the route, and she likes it when I take the hill fast enough for a small pop. God bless her little four-year-old, coaster-lovin' heart. There are a couple different elements that are quite a bit of fun for me, but honestly the best part is watching her laugh all the way through. The biggest drawback of WE is that the line positively creeps. There's a single train, and with that many small kids, loading and unloading is a process. If you've never been on it, don't underestimate the line, even if it looks "really short."

My wife still holds on when she rides WE, but then she's an ID and CCMR type. She might stretch to Gemini this season, we'll see.

WE may be one of the few Vekomas that hasn't given me a headache... although I do like the restraints on Face/Off at PKI better than the SLCs...

Vekoma is known for boomerangs and SLC's, or "hang-n-bangs" as we like to call them. SLC's are either all poorly maintained or just poorly designed.

However, I like the Vekoma boomerangs, including the inverted ones. They do a nice job on the "roller skater" rides like Woodstock and PKI's Runaway Reptar (an inverted version of Woodstock).

Vekoma's usally are pretty rough. They are quite simple in design, which is why people like making models of their rides. Mind Eraser and Serial Thriller at SFWoA are good examples of their rides. Serial Thriller has been said as one of the smoothest SLC's. But I like Raptor better, of course.
I've only been on one SLC, Serial Thriller at AstroWorld. I was fairly impressed. Knowing their reputation, I went in preparing for a rough ride. The drop next to the station going into the half loop pulls some incredible G's. Not to mention some great foot-choppers, it's a good little ride. It's no Raptor, but it's by no means the "crap" some people make it out to be.
