Usual for last Magnum rides to no have trims?

Me too - I also find the front seat to be more comfortable.

No. Cedar Point management gives the OK to turn them off for Coastermania. They are not supposed to give 'special' rides.

And when the train is taking too long on course. I believe its 60 seconds from the top of the hill to the exit of the last tunnel. If its taking longer than that by significant amount, they can turn off the trims.

Goodbye MrScott

John

I was there on Sunday and the whole day they didn't have the trims on at all. Rode it like 10 times, it was awesome.

I think My ride on Maggie had the trims off, but I couldn't tell since it was my first time on it. It was May 18, during a heavy downpour, with only about 10 people in the train. It flue, and going through the tunnels, it felt like being punched in the face.

I will always remember what the ride opp. said as we loaded the train. "please keep your hands over your face because at 70 mph, this rain will hurt."

Also a little trivia about the Phantom at kennywood, It will not make it back without weight in the train.

I haven't said it in awhile, so I'll post it again...

Pull the belt as tight as you can on Magnum. Even in the ejector seat, it'll be far more comfortable to ride. Better to let that flexible belt catch your weight than hard steel lap bar.

I can vouch for that. Before I ever read Jeff post about this I would complain about Magnum all the time. Ever since then I do exactly that with a much, much more enjoyable ride.

When I was at the park in early August, I got three great Magnum rides in one day. My first ride of the day was ordinary fun Magnum. The second ride was shortly after an on an off misty rain had finally stopped. The train screamed through the course. My girlfriend and I (and everyone around us was laughing about how much fun it was). At the end of the night, my brother, sister-in-law, two nephews, girlfriend, and I all ran over to Magnum from Sky Hawk to get in one ride before the park closed (we were staying at Camper Village so it is a natural last ride). We got there in time and found out that the line wouldn't close until until 10:13 or some strange time like that. We had a great ride and all decided to run around to the entrance to get on again. We got on one of the last trains of the night (it might have been the last full train) and the trims were off. The ride was awesome and we all laughed like little kids afterward. I had to buy the picture of my girlfriend and I holding our hands up since we haven't had any pictures taken together so far.

The funny thing is that, my brother is fourty, my sister-in-law is 36, I'm 33, my girlfriend is 31 leaving my nephews as the only ones young enough to actually have an excuse to run around for one last ride. We were all laughing about how we were acting like 10 year olds.

On a semi related note. I also had a fun and fierce ride on Mean Streak that day. It was shortly after my wet track ride on Magnum and Mean Streaks track was obviously wet and slick. We flew around the course and it reminded me of why I always have to ride Mean Streak when I go to the park.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!

Jeff, you got that right!

Yeah, Jeff is totally right when he says to tighten your seatbelt as tight as possible, you get that airtime and its not painful. As far as the trims go, it is all about train weight and weather. If the wind is blowing from the north at above 20mph or so, the trims usually get turned off to speed them up and prevent a rollback and keep them near the normal 60 seconds. And when the train gets below half full or so and dependent on weather conditions the trims get pulled as well. And yes, to whoever stated that there is just an on/off switch in controls, its just one button to either set or release.

I got on the first loaded cycle of the day :) on 8/23/06. I only rode it once so I have nothing to compare it to. I did not here or feel any trims and the ride seemed very fast.

Does anyone Know, were the trims on or off?

Most likely they were turned off, as trains are cycled empty in the morning the trims are off, so usually the first loaded train doesnt get exactly full, so I would say there is a high proability that they were off and were turned on within the next few trains.

The trains are supposed to come in between 58 and 60 seconds from the top of the lift the end of the 3rd tunnel. I've seen and been on loaded trains that have come in at 53 seconds before. Talk about insane...

If only they didn't have an overspeed alarm and allowed the ride to run like that all the time.

I got in the ejector seat my first time on without knowing. I hated it. Then the next day I sat in the back and I liked it. It is wierd because I like those types of coasters yet I only like that one. Maybe it will grow on me when I go next year.

Jugga - that was a crazy nite indeed! :)

As much as we like trimless rides, we should have the respect not to demand them from ride-ops. They have a job to and can get into trouble for pulling the trims for someone. It's sad that the park is so anal for it. But we must live with it.

If they are on and the trainis going too slow, I will suggest that they time the trains and have them adjusted.

Yes, those rides in the low 50's are insane. I wish I had known what the times were during the CM in which it borrowed DT's lift motor. It was going up the lift in 25 seconds! The whole ride was timing between 2:10 - 2:15!!
