USA Today article on coaster mishaps (excellent)

For once, the industry gets a fair shake by the media:

Nice to see, nice to hear! Would this also happen to be in the regular (print) USA Today?

All this press covrage does tend to get a bit tiresome. Here's a good comparison:  Ever since that young boy was involved in that shark attack, have you noticed that you suddenly hear about every shark attack in the country?
It amazing to me how the media can so easily manipulate peoples thought's, and how easily they steer people in the wrong direction when it comes to the facts. We've become such a fast paced society that we are to quick to beleive everything we see, hear or read. Perhaps if we all had time to check the facts things would be differnt, but we all know we don't and we all know we can't so most of us end up mislead by these people in the media who are drivin by nothing but the almighty dollar.
I'll shut up now :)

It's good to see some truth about accidents...

I just can't see how accidents that are fatal can happen on park rides, that really scares me. I'm not talking about a 90-year old guy with heart problems going on Wilcat and dying, or some idiot on Magnum unbuckling his seatbelt and falling out, I'm talking about some 18-yr ride op chatting w/ some girl and nat working the controls, and resulting in an injury. Now I'm not talking about CP. But I've seen this at SFWoA and many other places, and I can't stand it, and I hope other parks get in shape. Like, that Chaos thing up in Mich. shouldn't have happen, because every ride should be tested and inspected to death until it is at the maximum safety level! My views!

I live for them, but I won't risk my life on them!

Not to put too fine a point on it, but Michigan is a state inspection state. The Chaos was inspected in May 2001 by the state. It was inspected every morning.

Ultimately, things catastrophically fail. It's why they are called catastrohpic failures.

I guess you're right there, for some reasons tradgic things happen, but stupid things shouldn't!
