Maybe I am the only person using the plain text editor, so maybe this only affects me.
But I just tried to post this string:
(and [url="https://groups.google.com/forum/#!original/rec.roller-coaster/i...quot;]'millennium' is spelled with two n's [/url] regardless of whether the new one starts in 2000 or 2001.)
...but my closing URL tag and the quote marks around my URL got eaten.

/X\ *** Respect rides. They do not respect you. ***
/XXX\ /X\ /X\_ _ /X\__ _ _____
/XXXXX\ /XXX\ /XXXX\_ /X\ /XXXXX\ /X\ /XXXXX
_/XXXXXXX\_/XXXXX\_/XXXXXXX\_/XXX\_/XXXXXXX\__/XXX\__/XXXXXX
...and I was able to replace it by replacing the '!' in the URL with a '!'.
But still, anything between the quotes in a URL tag should be treated as a literal...

/XXX\ /X\ /X\_ _ /X\__ _ _____
/XXXXX\ /XXX\ /XXXX\_ /X\ /XXXXX\ /X\ /XXXXX

There's a lot of cleansing action in there. I suspect it's the ! in the URL.
And you do know there's a preview button now, right? :)

Turns out it was the !. Surprised the heck out of me; of all the goofy characters in that URL, the ! was not the one I expected to cause trouble. The good news is that once I escaped it, it not only posted all right, but I'm pretty sure the link still works. I thought it was the #, as that actually means something in HTML.
The preview button is nice. That's how I managed to post the sample version here without having to edit a dozen times.
Idea: How about a way to toggle between the rich text and the plain text editor without having to edit the account settings...

OK, your text is forever committed to the unit tests. I'll push the changes to PB in a bit.
