What did you wind up buying, anyways, Josh?

An almost brand new EOS 10D and a Sigma 28-70 f/2.8 lens. I'm searching for the vertical battery grip and the 50 f/1.8 lens to go with it, too. Ideally, I would LOVE the Canon/Sigma 50 mm f/1.4 lens, but it costs as much as a camera body anymore.

I should have it sometime next week, so I'll grab some end-of-season shots with it.

I love the off season aerial photos of Dragster under construction. Cedar Point looks so cool covered in snow and surrounded by frozen Lake Erie. Hopefully the oppertunity arises this winter for some similar shots and not this weekend when I finally make my trip to CP!

Great construction progress. I love the pictures!

Go to Local.live.com to see aerial photos of cedarpoint or prety much any other place in the world. The latest pics of C.P. are right after max air and dragster was built. You can see on there that W.W.L. is still there and there isn't any skyhawk yet, but they are awesome pics though.

Wow great discovery. If only it hadn't been discovered a year ago. *rolls eyes* ;) Just joking. Yea, we know about that. And it really is cool. Really puts the park into perspective.

I know our last update was on October 7th, but I was wondering if anybody has been to the park lately and seen anything different from the last update? One thing they mentioned that would happen soon would be vertical construction of the station. That was mentioned in the second entry in the Diary.

Doug has an update at PointPixels from the 14th. http://www.pointpixels.com/4images/categories.php?cat_id=405

Cant beat those beautiful Cedar Point sunsets.:)

And are these removable track sections that'll allow maintenance to check the wheel assemblies?

It would seem something of the sort, yes.

Looks to be where a kicker wheel/drive tire would be installed. At least that's what it looks like to me.

Those open spaces with the vertical flat braces are for the kicker/drive wheels.
I mean it could have a drive wheel there....but if that section I mentioned is really for wheel inspection, then why put a drive wheel there if it's only going to be in the way?

At first I thought kicker wheels too, but upon closer inspection, it looks as though the rails can indeed be removed.

This is just a guess but maybe the extension things are for something like what Dragster has on it's removable sections.

I was thinking that it may be how they load and off-load the individuals cars for their off season refurbish.

center one car onto the track, lift, remove car and repeat.
