It's great that CP now have the trains in storage and testing for Mav could start here once the power is connected and the station is built. Extremely ahead of schedule compared to what they said back in September “Steel construction to be completed by December.” It was done back in October. (even with the bad weather)

I don't believe they were talking only about the track when saying "steel construction". It's my understanding that "steel construction" encompasses the frame for the station, etc as well.

^ I agree

Mark

i wonder how long they have had the trains

They're much further ahead than I thought they would be at this time. The timeline of this construction is very different from the past rides. VERY different. This type of blog entry is usually found in February.

Doesn't he mean 34 kilovolt, or 34,000 volts. I can hardly believe 34,000 kilovolts. Thats like 34,000,000 volts.

Sorry for the randomness, I just found this mistake a little funny.

MrInkspot@aol.com's avatar

^ I noticed that too. Well, I suppose if the new line is going to feed the back 1/3 of the park, it might need to be that large.

To feed that 500 foot for 2009, they'll need all the power they can get. ;)

LSMs do suck up a lot of power so I am not surprised by 30 kilovolt, but then again there probably is future use factored into that power supply.

^^Pbbtt! 500, forget that! We're going to 600 in 09!;)

Did some quick math here... and, based on the numbers I have, it appears that the 34,000 kilovolts would be 11.3 times what is used to power Wicked Twister; if that means anything.

Well, using that 11.3 figure, I'm pretty sure this is a line for future attractions too.

I don't doubt that Ink, but what is the difference in power draw between LSM and LIM. That could explain part of the difference (if LSM's require more power).

I'm not sure what the difference is, but I doubt it requires significantly more power.

Only power is measured in watts, not volts. Better start Googling electrical terms!

^ I'm glad you pointed that out. Clearly, no one would have had any clue what I was talking about if you hadn't.

That was a close one.

Didn't want to start a new thread, but anybody know what's with all the vehicles parked on the Snake River Falls bridge/walkway (as seen from the webcam)?

Maybe they're letting construction workers park there now that the park is mostly done with the seasonal cleanup?
