I should have had these up months ago. Anyway, here are some neat photos that Paul Woodring shared with us.

I like maude #1 and its cars the best! Should I call Disney in tears and say I miss our train? That would be funny ;)

Walt
It lists Mike as the first Superintendant of CPLE but I think he worked for Jack Foster early on - Jack was the first Super I think
You're right, Jim. Paul gave me the correct info and I messed it up when I tried to make it fit in our caption space. I've updated the caption. *** Edited 2/27/2006 12:12:07 AM UTC by Walt***
Awesome pics, thanks walt!
I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.
Ok, time for me to be Mr. CP&LE Historian again...
Photo caption edits:
1. The second CP&LE Superintendent, Mike "Myron" Hetrick in front of #5 'Jack Foster', June late 60's. After Mike retired this engine's sister, #22 was renamed for him - 'Myron H.'. No. 5 is now #44, Judy K. a Vulcan 2-4-0.
2. June '92 finds Maud L. being readied for operation on the second train, having been pulled out of the house by the railroad's gas Plymouth switcher, #7.
3. CP&LE RR #44, 'Judy K', formerly #5 'Jack Foster', (Vulcan, 1922) now named for Dick Kinzel's wife, at Main Station, Summer '96. Both #5 and #22 were extensively rebuilt in the mid-'90's by Shop Services, of Iowa.
4. View of inside of engine house in the Summer of '94. To the left are Maud L. in front and a barely visible Albert. To the right, #5 'Judy K.', was in the shop for a minor repair.
Everything else looks good. Thanks for getting these up Walt!
From everyone on the CP&LE, RIP Mayor Scott...~
Just thought I'd throw this minor thing out there:
CP&LE #2 Jenny K., 2-4-0, built by H. K. Porter Co., taken June, 1978 on engine lead at shop. Currently stored unserviceable. Copyright 2005, Paul W. Woodring.
The caption says "Jenny K" but on the actual train it's "JENNIE K"
Just some minor nitpicking I guess.

I just copied and pasted what he gave me. I'll make the corrections.
I'll probably get a thrashing for this but anyhow, I never realized there was such a following of the trains at amusement parks. It's neat to see how people have taken into the naming and specific details about a ride most people take for granted at any amusement park. Maybe the reason people get a bit disconnected from this is the main thing you see with trains is all the passenger cars being pulled instead of the one engine doing the pulling. :) I love the trains myself. There's absolutely no better way to just take a break and cool off and just enjoy the scenery than to hop aboard a train.
This ain't no book you you can close, when the big light hits your eyes. Cropduster-Riot Act-Pearl Jam
Yes, there is a very big following of Amusement Park Steam.

I have a question--- Why did they take out the other set of tracks that used to be at the Midway station??? OK 2 questions - What were those tracks used for anyway?? I never saw another train on them. That might answer the first question though...
Please remain seated until the ride comes to a complete AND final stop.....
"Back in the day" those tracks were used to store the second of THREE sets of passenger cars that we had. The "little train" was a set of short cars that came up wiht "Albert" This set was stored beside the enginehouse. The track furthest from the platform of the station was a true passing track, but in my time was never used as one. The second set of coaches (the open bench type of car is refered to as a Narengansett, a type that was developed on a New England traction line) was stored there at night. The first train was stored at the platform.
When the started sticking coasters down on that end of the park, and they quit running three trains, the passing siding was truncated to a stub end,and the Little train was sent to a museum in Indiana.
Did you hear Michigan's Adventure is getting a second station this year? It's about time, I can't wait to see what they build around that train in the coming years.

Mayor, Lighthouse Point
Speaking of photos, I just found this on the new Cp website- ''For safety reasons, taking pictures, videotaping and filming on rides are prohibited. Picture taking is permitted on the C.P. & L.E. Railroad, Paddlewheel Excursions and Space Spiral''.

A rule change that is much appreciated, indeed. I'll be sure to take advantage of that come May.
Well, at least they are realizing that MAYBE blanket rules aren't the best way to go.
Goodbye MrScott
John
I would like to see it extended to Sky Ride and Giant Wheel and then maybe to the carousels (except for Cedar Downs), Antique Cars, Cadillac Cars, and Turnpike Cars. But this is a good start.
