You guys are over analyzing the situation here. You have to remember that this is first and foremost a construction site. There is huge equipment coming and going and I'm sure the guys driving the trucks/front-end loaders are not very familiar with the layout of the footers. Especially since new ones are being poured daily. Judging by the first pic...

...it doesn't appear that the PVC is imbedded in the footer at all, it has just been placed over one of the bolts. Compare the two footers in the foreground. They have the exact same bolt pattern, except the one on the left has a PVC pipe where the other does not. Then look in the background. The PVC pipe is placed over the closest bolts to the path the construction equipment drives through. So these gray PVC pipes are merely a way to help the drivers maneuver their way between the footers on the construction site without having someone direct them through the maze of footers.
The last thing the park wants is a footer with a bunch of bent anchor bolts, and I'm sure the construction company would rather not puncture some tires.
So it's nothing to get too excited about, but at least the construction crew is increasing their efficiency. :)
wow, look at cp bound go and figure out the obvious!! not sure how i didn't see that. good job man! we just poured a bunch of footings today that had conduit in them. so, that's where my brain was. :)
Hmm.... makes sense. No one wants to hear "Oops" on a construction site.:)

It also seems that they are excavating a portion of the site as well. This can be done for a number of things like spread footings or perhaps topographical changes. The fact they have what looks to be #2 stone and pumps leads me too believe they are doing some concrete work in the trench ( site work or spread footings) Im not 100% sure about how the coaster footings are spread under the visible portion but if the excavation in this area is for footers they may be larger indicating a taller/heavier portion of the ride.
from the first couple pics i was hoping that the ride would have some sort of fly through trench... but it dosent look that way.
ok i apologize i just viewed the rest of the pictures. all of the Piers or Columns sit on large spread footings. It makes sense. This has nothing to do with these specific pictures but my guess for this ride would be a watertrax attraction. Mabye two tracks. The inovation will be some kind of unique delivery method(seating, cars, attachment to track etc) Personally im looking forward to a "FUN" coaster that is unique to cedar point. Look for the next scream machine up by DT and the beach/parking lot in the future. I just think that they are going for a really FUN ride this year.
Did anyone notice the straight line of footers coming out of the old WWL station. The footers look small, so it is most likely the return path? It would seem that the station is part of the plan.
Cp needs to get rid of DT and put in a launch ride like at PKI stunt ride but indoors.

Billz1979, I agree 100% with your thoughts on the next two coasters. I think the next scream machine will be in the general area of DD to DT and drastically change the skyline for the front of the park.

Looking at the old pictures, I would agree with you.

Any ideas why they would leave them there?
Possibly because they can attach structure (station) supports, theming objects, lights, or other minor additions on them?
Are my posts invisible? I thought we cleared up the whole "conduit in the footer" thing already...
