Unofficial TTD Ride Contest

I had an idea that most the people in here will make fun of and get mad at. This idea being, that we hold a contest for the members of this site to see who rides TTD the most in the 2003 season. Of coarse you will have to keep track of your own count, which may bring up the fact of cheaters. (For shame!) If you think this is a good or bad idea post it. I just want to see how many hardcore riders there are here. I’m interested in your personal opinion on this contest.

I was just thinking about this. And, I'm kinda bummed. I bought passes for my whole family, thinking that "this year, we're gonna ride our brains out"! Well, as luck would have it, the wife has come into a motherly way. Now, I don't know who's gonna ride this thing with me. I probably won't ride too many times by myself. Standing in line for 4 hours without anyone familiar to talk to gets kinda old. Last year, I rode Raptor by myself once. I was so bored. Even on the ride, a little. It's just not as fun by yourself, you know?

Looks like you spelled fine to me.

Oh, and I plan on at least getting 30 rides in.

I definitely understand not wanting to ride by yourself. It’s pretty boring. I think even if you ride TTD! That might spark some opinions. Anyway, 30 rides seems like a lot of rides. Any one plan on beating that? I know some of you do, even if the rest of your family doesn’t know about it. (You crazy freaks.) ;) P.S. Forum secret: Type on Microsoft Word, spell check, then cut and paste! Otherwise you would be working to get through reading my posts.

Jeff, I like these unofficial contests, like the one regarding the stats for TTD before it was announced. Number of rides in interesting, but given the reality of over exageration, and the season not ending till October, it will be hard to maintain interest IMO.

Given the fact that full circuit testing as not begun, and knowing extensive testing is required prior to opening, I think a better contest would be when will TTD officially open. I know, I know, CP says May 4 - with that being only 2 weeks away, I just find that hard to believe (and I certainly hope I am wrong).

Or, how about a contest trying to predict the reliability of TTD. Just my $.02.

Tom

Lets see i was planning on um!!!!!!!!!! 0 rides! HAHAHA
Riding by yourself is not that bad. That is how I got most of my 316 rides on MF in 3 years. Their's always someone in line that is looking for A riding partner and you can ride with them.

As for 20 rides I will have to agree with Jeff and say that I will have that in two weeks!

Will the addition of TTD allow me to get more rides on MF this year?

I for one will have well over 20 too. Last season I had 161 rides on Millennium Force. But it helps to be an employee to get so many rides too;)

Dougster: I'm in a similar position. While not in a family way, my wife won't ride anything "too tall", and Dragster definitely fails the "too tall" yardstick. My kids are too short. My planned solution is to treat friends to trips from time to time. I think the cheapest way to do that is to buy a Ride&Slide ticket, and treat two different friends on two different trips. In the past, AAA has offered Ride&Slide tickets at a discount, but the MI AAA offices have not announced Cedar Point pricing yet.

I vaguely recall reading that Soak City "halves" of Ride&Slide tickets could be "upgraded" to Cedar Point admissions in years past, but according to this, that no longer seems to be possible.

Of course, another, even cheaper option is to use the Calendar on Coasterbuzz or the Meetings forum here to hook up with other crazy coaster freaks on days you plan to attend.

I think the "contest" would be great... for people that aren't employeed by the park. AND, It would only be fair to count operating hours for rides, because MOST of us won't be at the park before May 4th, and well, I know some employees that are moving in there this week. Kinda gives them an unfair advantage.

So, I think your "contest" would work under 2 conditions:
1) Non-employees
2) Public operating hours only

well considering i have better things to do than wait 8 hours for what maybe a 1 minute ride count me out of the contest
What about ERT rides for Joe Cool members?

Besides the great rides and being the best of everything, the best part about Cedar Point is that it isn't Six Flags! YAY!

Actually CoasterMan24 it's a 15 second ride.

ONE freeway stamp a day... ONE

Vanessa its a 30 second ride for the front train and a minute for the back train. lol

Speed Freaks - 2003

7 days until I process in.

If Jeff thinks this contest is a good idea and thinks it will work, that is probably the only way anyone will want to participate in it. So let us know. If it gets “big” enough I’m betting we could find news stations to interview the winner! Maybe I’m out of hand but media sure does seem to like stories about crazy people like all of us coaster freaks. Plus TTD is already a huge story now so it will need a follow up at the end of the year! This is just my perception of what could come from this.

I say let everyone participate, even employees. This way, all the people that are in the Joe Cool Club could keep up.

What is most anticipated event of 2003? the debut of Dragster, the release of Metallica's new album, the release of Terminator 3, or the release of Matrix:Reloaded...tough call.

Call me crazy, but I don't get the whole "I've ridden ride X more times than anyone else" thing, despite our many well-respected members who can make a plausible claim for various values of X. Maybe I'm not sufficiently Po!nter-like...
actually vannesa last time i checked i didn't care, im still not waiting 8 HOURS1
