UniCoaster?

You guys don't think CedarPoint is going to do something like this??
Just a possibility. I'm not trying to blow off that video of the other ride-cause I think that's probably what it will be but
what about this?

http://www.unicoaster.com/

It's a new type of rollercoaster that is still in prototype (suposedly) that does have "sidewind'in" and 2. The only thing that doesn't make sence is the track design. The track that we have seen already isn't the same, but it's still a possibility...

Thers pictures on the sites and also theres a demo download that is exactly like NoLimits and you can actually ride the ride, and choose your spot
check it out.

also says that there is suposed to be a prototype up in california sometime spring 2006. *** Edited 6/11/2006 7:47:38 PM UTC by DrunkinMonkey***

"Water will be involved." MrScott 2006

not with the intamin track we;ve seen. Plus, cp isn't normally the first one to buy a new prtotype. They may make a bigger version of one and make it better, but never the first one. For example, TTD wasn't the first intamin rocket coaster, but it was the tallest and fastest. WT wasn't the first impulse coaster, but it was the talles, fastest, and first to have a twist on the back spike. Mantis, Raptor, corckscrew, MF, Maggie....doesn't fit.

Then What was TopThrillDragster??????

^^A bigger version of other Intamin rockets.

Got enough of these??????

I do not like that kind of coaster at all, those wheels on the track are ick.

TTD was a larger version of Xcelerator, and a pretty disasterous one at that.

TTD 120mph's avatar

Xcelerator wasnt exactly perfect either. Dragster took the hydraulic launch to a whole new level. Plus Intamin was rushed into opening it so they over-looked a ton of things. Things that resulted in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
Cant people just leave it be, it's here and it's running fine.

Oh yeah, and it's disastrous. *** Edited 6/12/2006 2:16:57 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***

Thats a new design... but it seems kind of stupid to me. Im not bashing but really... why would anyone build a ride like that. It would sit the same amount of people as a normal car... it just hangs off to the side. so why no hang it off both sides? oh wait... cause then its a 4D. Unless the Uni fully rotates at random. Its still not much.

The kind of impression I get from it is that it's a steroid version of that coaster Hershey Park was suppose to get but had the lawsuit with the company because they said they needed more money than was previously agreed in order to build the coaster.

Boy that was a long sentence!:)

Correct me if I'm wrong,

Cedar Fair = Cedar Point, Cedar Fair = Knotts, Knotts = Xcelerator, Xcelerator = Prototype, = CP could get Prototype.

Not that I think this is the one.

Ahhhhh C.P. My Happy Place!

How can you say that Intamin was "rushed" into opening it? They started building the ride in the fall of the year before, completed vertical construction in the early months of the following year, and opened it in May, 2003.

They have also had THREE off-seasons of about 5 or 6 months each to work on it.

Dear everyone-

"Prototype" still doesn't mean "first." A prototype is something used to test ideas and demonstrate functionality.

Sincerely,

Me

you could say that dragster was the first strata, and I would agree there, but it was not a prototype because a prototype is a working model. Xcelerator was the prtotype, and dragster was the full-scale model. I'm not saying Xcelerator was a real prtototype, but in the market it was the first to demonstrate the technology.

correct me if I'm wrong, but cedar Fair usually likes to test it's rides at smaller parks, then build the upgraded version at other parks. they had other arrow corkscrews before corkscrew debuted, but the one at CP was the first top go upside-down three times. They had other intamin inverted impulses, but they opened wicked twister as the tallest, fastest, and first to have a twist on the back spike. Xcelerator was the first Intamin nrocket coaster, but dragster was opened ass the tallest, fastest and steepest....

I hope that sums it up.

Of course, that one was built before Cedar Fair existed.

As for TTD, just because a smaller one was built elsewhere, doesn't mean TTD wasn't a prototype. Xcellerator wasn't built to go as high or as fast as TTD. It was a good show of technology, but doesn't show what happens when you scale up.

Right you are. Dragster definitely "opened ass" the tallest and fastest. I'm not sure you can "open ass" any steeper than straight down, though.

^ LMAO

Wow, I feel threads are going off-topic faster than ever!

The Unicoaster looks ugly, me thinks ;)

It´s gonna be an Intamin (damn, I ruined the surprise).

By the way, what were the other Cedar Fair parks when Corkscrew opened in 1976?

What was the Intamin impulse built at a CF park prior to Wicked Twister?

JuggaLotus's avatar

There were none. Cedar Fair didn't exist in 1976.

Geauga Lake was Six Flags Ohio/Worlds of Adventure when Cedar Point installed Wicked Twister.
