Underneath Gemini

I rode Gemini 3 times yesterday, and while traveling up the lift hill, there are a lot of things covered in black tarps underneath the whole maze of track.

Does anybody know what is underneath these black tarps?

Also, if anybody finds a nice white with blue lettering NC hat I would like it back. It should be underneath the last bunny hill somewhere. Such a strange thing that while putting my hands up I accidently knocked off my hat.

It's just new wood, some metal supports to replace what holds the wood together, random stuff the carpenters use, etc. And as for the hat, you should have asked, I probably found it when I went out on a track walk.

Oh, its ok, a friend gave me the hat a couple of years ago.

This year when a young relative lost his hat on magnum, I found out something interesting after I got begged to travel back to CP the next day. Most of the recovered hats end up in the CP lost and found, but due to the number of hats recovered, they are only held for 3 days, then destroyed. I though they were kidding, until I had to dig in an industrial sized garbage bag of hundreds of hats recovered the previous day.

My guess is since the park is open only weekends, the 3 day rule may be relaxed. The lost and found is located in the police station right off the main midway. Last week when I turned in a lost cellphone left under the northern skyride station, the lost and found was not as full as prime season for the park.

The maintenance/construction VP (Monty Jasper, if you're not playing along at home) told us on a WT construction tour last winter that Gemini wood would be almost entirely replaced over the next few years.

I noticed the black tarps as well, and if you looked closely, you could see it was all wood.

I'm glad Gemini is maintained as well as it is. It is still one of my favorite rides at CP, and even more so now that we don't have to wait an hour for it. Gosh, I remember the year it opened how long the wait was.

I also see this, and when I took a closer look, I also noticed it was wood. it doesn't last forever, so it needs to be replace in part, or completely over time.
