Underground Tunnels

I was told that there was a system of underground tunnels running beneath Cedar Point. This sounds logical. . .because there has to be a large amount of water, waste, and electric pipes running underground that need maintenence. . . but I heard that there were tunnels that ambulances could drive through to get to various points in emergencies, so as not to cause a scene. Which also sounds logical. Has anyone seen an ambulance drive through the park? Or does anyone know about the tunnels?

I know thats true with Disney World but I don't know with Cedar Point. I doubt it.

I don't know. . . I am not a park expert. . .but it seems to me that there MUST be an "underground" part to the park. . . there HAS to be a place where all that crazy operational stuff is. Maybe someone in Park Operations can shine some light on this.

I think the only underground areas would be maintenance areas under the rides... but I've never been behind the scenes. I may go year after year after year, but I keep getting the same-ol view that the general public gets, and while it's a great view (example: the RIDES!), I'd kinda like one time where I could see the inside operations of the park... ya know, more than the Discovery Channel showed in that special (think it was the Discovery Channel).

I worked in rides for 3 years, and there are no underground tunnels that I know of, nothing rides related. As far as the emergency vehicles, they stay on the surface. There are areas behind fences, but nothing underground.

Isn't the water table too high for something like this? One of the main reasons that Disney has the "under above ground" tunnels is so that the costumed characters can get from place to place without being seen.

I say "under above gound" because I think that the tunnels are really ground level, and the park atrraction are all build several feet above ground to be level with the portion above the tunnel.

Yes, at Magic Kingdom the Utilidoors (the tunnels) are built at ground level and the rest of the park is on top of them. There are no tunnels like these at Cedar Point.

No way no how, the water table is too high for anything to go under ground, besides the obvious utilities.

The small tunnel at the Magnum entrance is around 3 feet into the ground and everyother day it had water backed up in it.

The only thing underground there is utilities.

While the water table of course would be an issue, it is in Florida as well. However the "surface" of the Disney parks is apparently ten to 15 feet above the average area terrain so they can put their tunnels below.

Well that's no fun.
In fact, the Magic Kingdom is built on a swamp, but my understanding is that they did not drain the swamp to build the park, but rather built over it. So even the utility tunnels are above the swamp, with the park built above that. I don't think that is true for the other Disney parks.

Cedar Point is all on the surface, though. Heck, I think most of the buildings don't even have basements under them. Furthermore, the park does not have a central service corridor (as at Great America or Busch Gardens). Much of the park is accessible from the outside perimeter via the perimeter road, but anything that isn't built along the outside edge, either the mechanic has to walk or the truck has to drive across the midway.
