But it is a good question, and with the precedent they've set, it's hard to say. I know that by now people like Kinzel know the value and excitement of a great small wood coaster. I think they totally overlook, however, the fact that a little park in the middle of nowhere Indiana has two of the highest rated coasters in the entire world, and the fame it brings them is working wonders.
Personally, I'm starting to get bored with new coasters every other year. (One of the reasons I'm not bothered by the short track of the new ride is that I can already get a similar long ride on MF.) Paramount's Kings Island has the right idea, differentiating themselves with some of the most visually appealing and thrilling rides out there, with high capacity and relatively low cost (talking about the Huss giants, of course).

I would take a park like Island of Adventure in Florida with a good mix of coasters and dark rides any day over CP. That's not to say that CP isn't a fantastic park, it's just saying that they are lacking in other respects.
Then again...if you drink enough, any ride is a great ride!

Islands of Adventure varies the experience as well, but to be fair it's a "theme park," where Cedar Point is more of an "amusement park." Aside from both having rides, it's hard to classify them together.

I am excited about his new ride. I definately think that I'll have to get back to Cedar Point this next year. However, I would be just as excited (or probably more so) to go and see new jumping fountains on the midway, a spinning mouse ride, a new flat ride (I love Chaos), a dark ride, an addition to Soak City with a Super Saturator in it or many other attractions that I can think of but won't list. I personally feel that Snoopy on Ice was the more important attraction for Cedar Point to add this year.
Somehow it seems to me that Cedar Point is competing against Magic Mountain for the number of coasters. I realize that they are far away from each other, but both are in the same type of frenzy to build. I hope that one of them realizes that there are other things besides coasters that make parks great.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!

To further illustrate your point, Chris, I'd bring up Busch Williamsburg as well. Only five coasters, but it's the best park in the Mid-Atlantic region, hands down. If I lived closer to it there's no question in my mind that it would be my favorite park.Islands of Adventure varies the experience as well, but to be fair it's a "theme park," where Cedar Point is more of an "amusement park."
