TTD Videos

Dave-

Great video, but I do have one question..

At one point of the video, you have a quick shot of some higher ups walking away. They did not seem too pleased with your camara pointed toward them.

Is there a story or something behind this? Or just something interesting to add to the video?

Thanks.

-Jesse

i was just watching that cbs news video of ttd and i got a good laugh at matt d. . sorry matt i remember that you said you were on here or something when that video was first here, but i thought it was really funny in the begging when you say, "i've just been wanting to come to cedar point for all my life, about twelve years now, and i finally graduated from college...". you must be a smart twelve year old! but you look so mature... . i just thought that was funny and i didnt notice anyone mention that.

Guess what? I got a fever! And the only prescription... is more cowbell!

Jesse--

No, no story. But your interpretation is interesting.

At the beginning of that shot, R. Kinzel (white hair) and D. Keller (suspenders) are standing with their backs to the camera, walking away, as S. Kernacs (bag over his shoulder) goes the other way in the shot. This was on press day; the three had just concluded an apparently-friendly conversation and had turned to go their separate ways. I suspect that all three were mostly unaware that they were on camera at the time, and all were fairly pleased with the new ride at that point.

It's only the magic of editing that makes Sandor look annoyed in that shot. :) Not even digital effects...the only effects I used were to stretch certain shots vertically to 133% and then crop top and bottom to make them fit the 16:9 frame. There aren't even any dissolves in that piece!

My interpretation may be flawed.. but I do my reasons to think that.

The loss of detail (especially on the face) makes me question what he is doing or thinking. He could be smiling at you, but it is loss with the pixelation (the joys of web video). Another reason is his head in a downward manner- usually a quality of a sad or upset person. Looking back to you while walking away has a feel of him thinking, "Is he sill taping me?"

I think I am looking into this too much.. It was one part of the video that caught my eye. And it is only a 3 second part. Oh well.

Maybe I should stop watching TTD videos and get out there to ride this coaster. I know what it looks like (I was there for Coastermania)-- just seeing it run is very exciting. Thanks to everyone for the pics and videos of TTD in action.

Dave - Thanks for your response.

Actually, it's 59 frames. :)

And while it doesn't reflect what was really happening when I shot the video, your interpretation was pretty much exactly what I had in mind: after all, it's right after the repair and rollback shots, to give the impression of, "Now what's wrong with the @#$! thing?!". Not what he was really thinking, I don't think, when I took the shot, but the appearance is perfect where I used it. :)

(I suspect his thoughts at the time of the shot were more mundane, perhaps something like, "Now that I've said 'hello' to the client, I wonder where I can get some lunch...")
