I just keep checking the webcam. Until I see people in that queue, I'm not setting foot in that park. I have got to ride Dragster

Ohio State, here I come!

Jeff Da Beat..that could be the stupidest comment I have ever heard. You are NOT going to set foot in the Park, until Dragster opens; why is that?

Did Cedar Fair suddenly remove Millennium Force, Wicked Twister, Maggie, Raptor, Mantis, and the other great coasters, and rides?

I don't understand the concept of being a martyr when a ride is down. It's a machine, these things tend to happen. Get over it, and go enjoy the Park.

Actually, you should all stay home. Particularly from the 19th to the 22nd this month. And tell everyone else to stay home then too. ;)

No, you know what is dumber? Someone who cant understand the human emotion called disappointment. I dont know why it is such a difficult concept for the CP Cultists to grasp. Yes, the rides you mention are great but most of us have been on them numerous times. Alot of us have not been on Dragster, hence the disappointment. So WHY is it stupid to say you want to wait until it is running consistantly before you return to the park??

I also see by your signature that you have been on Dragster 5 times. It certainly makes it easier for you to say it is no big deal when you have been on it 5 times. People have a right to be upset and not go until it is open or running consistantly.

Maybe he only wants to ride Dragster. Did you ever stop to think about that? I'm not going back until it's open as well. Been there six times already, and rode it twice. Yes it's a great park...yes there are a ton of great coasters there. But DON'T call someones opinion 'stupid' because it isn't the same as yours. Some of the people on this board piss me off with their self-righteous attitude. A forum is a place to view your own opinions, not to sit there and slam-dunk everyone elses. Corrections to mis-information is one thing, but to come on out and say 'that is the stupidist thing I've ever heard' is another. It's getting harder to weed through the crap in here. There are a lot of nice people that are open minded and knowledgable, but the minority that think it's my way or the highway are really getting under my skin.

'Welcome to Alaska!'

"Alaska?? Nobody said we were going to Alaska!!"

This post was taken from a different section, (long) but please read.

This is what happened on the terrible days of June 4th-June 7th. This post has what I saw when Dragster went down HARD, and what Monty Jasper had to say about it, since I asked him personally. It also explains why Paddle Wheel Excursions is my 3rd favorite ride. You have to read to find out why.

Wednesday 4:45 PM

I drew close the park after our 7 1/2 hour drive, as we drove into the park, I saw the almighty dragster! As we were checking into the hotel I looked out with my dad and brother, we saw a few people on the train and couldn't wait to get on after we checked in... we got our season pass pictures taken and went inside, I was worrying because I did NOT see any more trains running. We asked the guy waiting in front of the closed line queue. He said it's done for the day but people don't want to listen to me so their is a crowd in front of the line queue. I believed him and thought it would HAVE to be open for coastermania, the main reason I went on those days(Wed-Fri) We just left dragster alone for the day.

Thursday- 9am

We rushed into the park to get in line for dragster, to our not surprised minds, it was not open. Rumors were goin around that they are just making sure that the ride doesn't malfunction for the ERT during coastermania so they just won't open it. I felt "special." I got in line anyway hoping it would open. They had one test run at 10:00 and the outside line queue was filled to the PowerTower entrance. You can imagine the line got filled up so fast because of the running of the bulls. Then a woman's voice very loudly announced, "Attention all guests waiting in the midway for dragster, please leave and ride the other rides, Top Thrill Dragster is currently closed." Immiedietly (sp?) hundreds of "awwwwwws" came. To my surprise, THEY ALL LEFT THE PARK! For good. At the end of the day, I saw an ACE member talking to the guy in front of the line queue. He was saying how they people can warm up Dragster for them in the morning. (Note: Dragster ERT was from 6:30-8:30am) I then asked the guy in front of the line if Dragster would be open tomorrow for CoasterMania. He said, Oh DEFINITELY. So I went to bed a happy camper on Thursday for my ERT in the morning.

Friday-6:30am

I got into the park around that time.... Millenium force was running.... Dragster was not! Everyone got in line for the Millenium which was backed all the way across the traintracks and into the big summer spectacular screen (for the laser show) But all the little line queue turns and zigzags weren't filled yet. We figured we'd get in line since it was the only thing running. Then we ended up waiting an hour 1/2 for the ride!!!! Yes, that's ERT!! The day before that it was a 45 minute wait, and before that a 30 minute wait! It was more like EWT (Exclusive Wait Time) Yay!

I then rode PowerTower at 8am but they only had two of the four towers running. So we waited an hour for the ride. then at 9:30 am we headed over to the GrandStands. and was going to watch the ride (not running) but something happened..... a ride op kept moving the train to the launch pad and then back to the station constantly! So we stayed awhile to see what was gonna happen. Then we saw the cable rewind back to the launch pad, people cheered and clapped since it was about 10:00pm and most of the park was filled up and waiting for the ride. then they launched the ride about 10 minutes later. Everything looked fine. But then they didn't do it anymore. 10 minutes later... "the ride is now CLOSED please go an ride something else it's probably not gonna open."

I waited in line for another two hours. The line that was now to the power tower entrance was now only with 10 people. I started talking to someone who worked there, and said he got to ride it four times on an employee ride night, I was jealous. I haven't ridden it yet.

Then I left at 11:30 and got a Millenium Force and Raptor freeway stamp. I then headed over the Q&A session (big semi-climax here) First we sat in a room and they showed us a bunch of movies of the newsreporter's reviews on TTD. Then came the Q&A and they said to be nice. To my surprise no one asked the whole time why the ride was down or something near that. But a particular question, that was asked by some kid, I really liked their reply to. That question was, "There has been a rumor going around that you guys are in competition with Six Flags: Magic Mountain, is this true?" Their answer was this, or something similar to it, "They may be in competition with us but we are not in competition with them" After awhile I figured I would go up there and ask MY question. I was nervous but OK. But then before I got the microphone to ask the question to the three big manager guys, (Monty Jasper, and some other two guys that I have seen before but forgot their names, one was big and bald with glasses, the other with orange hair and glasses) The Microphone guy, the guy holding the microphone, announced my questiong would be the very LAST question. I began with this, "Hi my name is Mike and I have just got to say that CedarPoint has got to be by far my FAVORITE amusement park ever. But sorry if this has already been answered before, but, What is the current problem with Top Thrill Dragster, and do you expect it to be open by the end of the day?" (coastermania) Immiediately after that question I asked, everybody started cheering and applauding for me, the dreaded question everyone had either forgotten to ask or too afraid to ask. I smiled and they kept on cheering for me. Monty Jasper said, "Well we have been having some hydralic troubles with the ride, and malfunctions with them, but we wouldn't know when it would open back up, nobody does. But if we can open the ride, we will, we have been known to open rides at about 9:30, half an hour before the park closes like last year with Millenium Force. Which really didn't answer it fully but was ok with it... I really wished the ride opened on coastermania, but I am afraid CedarPoint got a LOT of bad publicity. Since people from all over came to ride the biggest tallest meanest fastest coaster in the world, and just got the Millenium Force. Let me say something about that, GO ON PADDLE WHEEL EXCURSIONS, you wil NOT regret it. The guy that did our little boat ride excursion was hilarious. When we passed Millenium Force, he said, "And now to your right, you can see Millenium Force, Millenium Force used to be the biggest baddest meanest fastest steepest coaster in the world! but now.....its just blue." Everyone laughed hard, then we went across TTD, he said, "Top Thrill Dragster is SOMETIMES the fastest steepest coaster in the world, but sometimes, it's just that biggest coat rack in the world.

Now back to Friday during coastermania. I stayed till 2:00am hoping it would open but had no luck, I also have to say during the lunch at the point pavillion, they announced the VIP driver winners, the people who had write essays on why they should be in the front of the line. Even though they won, it was useless, dragster didn't open.

Saturday 10:00am

I was packing but THEN, I saw dragster do a test run while i was outside. I rushed in with my season pass, and was going to report back if it was open. I saw another test run happen. Then another, they kept test running, it was really promising. Then I met someone who I was supposed to meet with from this website, known as kirk. It was very cool. It was promising because of the test runs but then on the around 18th test run, the train launched, but then stopped 50 feet into it, because the hydralic brakes jumped up too early. No one knew what was going on, so they had to slowly bring the train back in at about 1 inch per second, not exaggerating. Then they got the brakes down for about three seconds, but then they popped right back up again, then again. malfunctioning like crazy. Before that launch I asked a ride op if it would be open, they said yes it will be open but it will take a little while like an hour or so. We decided to stay then that launch happened, and the ride op came up to the microphone, he announced that the ride will NOT open today AT ALL. I was so ticked. we left the line and asked for no stamp, the guy was confused, he's like why don't you want your stamp, he looked dissappointed. We just told him if dragster doesn't go, we go. and got in our car and headed back home. Such a dissappointment, I live in Illinois and it's an eight hour drive to CedarPoint. and from Wednesday-Saturday, I never got to ride it.

Well that's the coastermania story. Very tragic. :( I never got to ride Dragster, and I feel sorry for the people that were right there along with me, (panman and kirk) were literally right with me. Anyone else there on coastermania that was very disappointed

If it tastes bad, it's good for you.

Finally, some good comments! I have been to CP many times and ridden all the other coasters many many times. I have already cancelled two trips this year because TTD has not been open. I have not posted this for fear of getting flamed. Its nice to see that some other people are seeing it my way, too. I am not going to spend 40 bucks and not get to ride the new ride. Let's be sensible people. Yes, I would have a great time without Dragster, as I have many times before, but there's a reason parks build new rides, to make it new and exciting. I have always gotten to ride the new coaster when I go in May. Not this year. It's so easy for you people who live close and own season passes to tell us to quit whining, but I am able to get to the Point once, maybe twice a year. Please explain to me, olympic10086, why it is stupid to not go until I know the ride is up!?
Suggestion, Get a SEASON PASS. If you are making 2 trips this year its already worth it. I live about 9 hours away and i have a season pass because it would be just stupid getting a regular admission ticket. Plus you get joe cool which is awesome. I got a trip in 2 weeks, Yes..i am hoping that TTD will be operational by then. Will i be upset? yea, a little. Doesnt mean i will go whinning about it and not still have the best frickin time of my life. There is no point in whinning about it...The most it does is get people pissed off. This wont help TTD open any faster.

Well i have a season pass and im NOT going back to Cedar Point until Dragster is back up and running. Why you might ask? Becasue i have a season pass, but none of my friends do, and they wont go, lay down $40 and not be able to get a ride in on the tallest and fastest coaster, this ride is what everyone wants to ride this year, my friends have already been on the other great coasters, they want to ride something they have never experience before. So until its up, im not at CP.

Your loss.

I'm trying to understand people who 'won't step foot into the park' until Dragster is running. Is it a boycott? What happens after you ride it? Are you going to stop going until the park puts in another new ride? After all, you would have already experienced everything.

No, no, no, we are not boycotting Cp at all. People just dont want to put down $40 and not have a cahnce to ride Dragster, thats all.
Thank you Raptor1117, that was a big point I forgot to mention. The first trip I cancelled I was going with a bunch of friends who are not coaster enthusiasts, and they will only go once and aren't gonna go unless the new ride that they saw on the commercials is actually running. I love CP and I have always bragged about its superiority to Six Flags parks, especially the way it is run. The reason I am so concerned is because I don't want CP to turn into a Six Flags. Its not that I'm boycotting CP, its just that it takes precious time and money to go and I might as well save it until I can actually ride the big attraction. I just feel sorry for the people of the GP who see the commercials, and then are let down when they go and not get to ride. I'm thankful that I have known when it has been down so that I've saved my time and money.

I got mad once. I lost my job, went thousands of dollars in debt, had trouble paying my mortgage and seriously endangered my marriage.

Get a freakin' grip. Get mad about something else.
