TTD Status report bad idea

I think the status report Cedar Point put up on the website was a good idea on paper. When it is actually put into effect though its not as succesful. The ride could open in the morning when someone checks the report and it could close by the night before they have a chance to check the report again. I just think it is a bad idea because of how often TTD goes down, its nearly impossible to keep people notified of the status of the ride.
Gee, only most of us long timers agree with that. It's there for PR, nothing more.

Maybe the should just put TTD's christmas tree lights on the home page. Green - Open, Red - Closed, Yellow - Gamblers choice!

The status page is a good idea, they just don't update it fast enough. And if the status page isn't good enough, you can just check the web cams to see if there are people in line.
Actually, the best method is to call the number posted on the status page, or just go on with your plans and have a good time anyways!
I wasnt asking for suggestions to alternate methods of finding out if its operation. I was just looking to see if any of you think that Cedar Point's status report is kinda bogus and doesnt really provide actual real time information as to the status of dragster.

Well, looks like you got suggestions anyways. I personally think the christmas lights thing is a good idea.

the staus report is better than keeping the downtime a secret. if i find that status page or find this forum i wouldnt have had any idea ttd was down so much and i would have went to the park this coming friday expecting to ride ttd first thing.
What they need to do with the status page is re-write the code behind it to be a little more sophisticated. The park only updates the page during the day, but because of the apparent script, the date on the message changes at midnight. So if the ride status changes at 7 am, for seven hours the message will be wrong. What they need to do is set it up so that the date on the message doesn't change until after whatever time of day they make the decision to stay closed all day. That way the kiddies who obsessively check the CP web site 24 hours a day will have slightly more accurate information to go by. :)

They don't have a status report for any other ride at Cedar Point. The answer is right there. People complained when there were no updates and now they complain that there are.

They have opened up a can of worms with this report in my opinion.

Maybe they should interlock it with the controls of the ride. If the ride works the web site changes automatically. Maybe even have the option of e-mail alerts to people’s cell phones, so they know when to run to the line fast.

But they probably have enough problems already!!!

I think it is a great idea. When the ride is listed as down, some people who might have come will instead stay home. Those people then don't get in line for other rides, which is fine by me. ;)

It's not war, famine, or pestilence; it's only downtime.

I think the status page is a good idea, I just hate the part that reads "I regret to inform you....".

That happens too often.

To check if Dragster is down... go here. Cleveland.com

go on webcams and then do cedarpoint. then do live feed for a live video of the park... stare at TTD for 2 minutes... and if you see a tiny bit of movement... its open or testing... you CANNOT get a clear view of the train or even see the outline of it... you'll know because you will see a little tiny worm thing zoom down past the spiral then to the brakes.

Just the thought of them telling people before they buy their tickets is really nice.

At Magic Mountain they show you the ride closures, which are many, after you come into the park and have bought your tickets.

The thought definetly counts here.

I don't think the status page is bogus, because we all know hat is gamble to go every day, it's just not updated fast enough but it's better than nothing, at least people know that there is a large possibility that the ride could close down at any given time for long periods of time.

Life has it's ups and downs, might as well make it on a coaster!

But, the page could be updated for a day, stating the ride would be down, but then have the ride open later that day anyways. That may make the people who cancelled their trips around the ride not very happy.

i think that if someone based there trip around TTD and didn't go because of it being down....i think that they forgot about the other sweet coasters at cedar point.

You do have to remember the draw a new ride causes. That's why parks put in new rides, so people will say "hey, let's go ride that." It's perfectly understandable that someone would cancel their trip based on TDD being down. I've got a lot of non-passholder friends from school that want to go to CP with me, but they won't go until I tell them TDD is running consistantly.

Too bad for them, Ralph Wiggum.
