Never trust a country music station.
What country station was that, And Phillip is right they always seem to have false news.

I don't doubt your hearing skills, but it sounds like they may have picked up the Register article or the AP report (which, I think, was based of it?) and kind of mis-reported it.

Also, in contrast to this, a local TV station here in Toledo had a short report on yesterday's newscast where the park seemed to backtrack a bit on its previous statements, insisting that they have every intention of opening it soon, and no intention of closing it for the season.

But I didn't give that much credence, either, since it was a 15-second anchor-read report and didn't have any interviews or anything.

All of this could just be branching off of the original reports and Kinzel's comments.

Well, if it does close for the rest of the season, it definitely won't get that estimated 2 million rides in its inagural season like the sign in the station said. At least I got my ride in on the very last opprotunity I had, and that was on the 20th of this month. :)
Im not sure what country station it was, but I live in mansfield. Im 99.9% positive the report said "Cedar Point's 25 million dollar coaster, top thrill dragster was officially closed for the rest of the season today because of problems with the hydraulic motor" phillip studans and fat chris, you do have a point, I shouldnt pay any attention to news on a country station, I just thought i'd let everyone know what they said.

Hahaha! I was thinking the same thing. I was there on the 20th and after several breakdowns I snuck a ride in.

Until I see it from Dick Kinzel's mouth... I won't believe it.

Well, since I figured it would already be all over the forum, I didn't run to post this. But 13abc had a pretty good seg. in which they interviewed Janice. She said his words were completely mis-interpreted. You may be able to find a video link at www.13abc.com

In the immortal words of Socrates, "I drank what?!"

With all the work that they seem to be putting into TTD right now, I doubt that it's closed for the rest of the season. Looks like CP is doing some massive work on the ride.

That's pretty much what WTOL said, too, Dougster, only they didn't bother to interview anyone or make their report even make sense. "The News Channel" my a**.
I think that was misinterpreted by the radio-peoples, dont count on it ;)
Doesn't the media almost always misinterpret news with roller coasters? They just seem to get things mixed up or wrong, like the name or other stupid crap like that.
I don't know about anyone else, but that just bugs the crap out of me.

I do realize that it was not the case this time, but it just seems that it happens too often.

As I've seen, unless someone is hurt, terribly mutilated, burned, etc. the News won't pay that much attention to it, and put as few details in as necessary.

Or they tend to make it sound as bad as possible, i.e. Dragster not making it over the top, and rolling back. News tend to dwell on that, make it sound as bad as possible, meanwhile they usually don't show the pictures of a train slowly making it's way backwards only to launch again.
