TTD Issues?

First of all about Corkscrew i have seen it open with 2 trains the past two years and get it's third soon after so i would imagine if they are running short on time that would be a ride that could afford to go up with one less train since the capacity is still about the same. Expect at least 2 this year to start.

For those of you who haven't worked at the park you have no idea the actual process that the rides go through before they can be certified by the state. It's certainly not just take trains off, put them back on, then test and ready. For those of you who have worked at the park in the 70's, 80's, or 90's, congratulations, but you have no idea how it's like working at the park today. The procedures are so much different now, not to mention the rides you worked are so much different then the newer ones there today. It's just amazing that actual employees are posting what we see and go through through training week (week before the park opens) and what the rides go through but yet still get claims that the park isn't doing everything in their power to be ready. We aren't making this making this stuff up for the fun of it, but go ahead and continue to bash the one park that is probably most ready to go come opening day (and i have been to many other opening days, they are rough to say the least).

2011: Disaster Transport TL
2012: Millennium Force TL
2013: Top Thrill Dragster TL
2014: Gemini Ride Supervisor

^^^My ATL has said we'll be lucky to start off the season with one train, and even get one for training week...

Also thank you for backing up what I said earlier xD...For some reason I think people doubted what I said lols...Just look at my FB page & see the work the trains alone get during NDT. That's not even all of it lol...Like I said, the catch car alone gets sent to Intamin out in Switzerland, lol, and this is just ONE ride

^ Not to bash your ATL or anything but I have to agree with Chris. I don't know exactly where she is getting her information from, but I see no reason why they would not have the second train on by opening day. I really have never heard of any ride opening with less than is really needed on opening day.

Yeah....Lol this is where I got that from...Yeah....lol now I feel bad

It's just like the maintinance of an aircraft. Once you hit so many hours, you've gotta pull the power plants off and do a rebuild. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned weather as a factor as to why you can't test. C'mon I live on the Northcoast and know one day it's 75F and the next it's snowing.

The Pontiac Solstice will live on...in my garage and on the road.

Whoa dtchris you take things a little seriously. Cedar Point has good rides and it's fun but doesn't hold a candle to Disney or Universal. It's all a little lighthearted ribbing.

UpsideDown! :-)

It really depends on what you're looking for. If you want solid theming and an overall amusement park then go to Disney or Universal. But if you want amazing non-stop thrill rides then you can't beat Cedar Point. IMO

And to say that it's all lighthearted ribbing I think isn't quite right. People were basically attacking the park, and by extension us, the employees, and I can't speak for Chris but I know I felt like I needed to defend my fellow employees a little here.

Haha, sure. I worked at CP before but I was never bothered by people "attacking" the park. It is what it is.

CP maintenance is pretty good, but they're not magicians, and if you've ever talked to them they're umm unique individuals.

UpsideDown! :-)

I take A LOT of pride in my work and how well my ride and the rest of the rides at Cedar Point preform. So, it's definitely a matter of pride for me when things go well. You can imagine how I feel when someone insists otherwise. Ride hosts stick together. We're like a family.

^^^I so want to say DAMN STRAIGHT...but...I'm ganna just nod my head haha...I'm way too excited for this season

Hey it's great to have fun, and to enjoy your seasonal job. I had fun in ride's too. Kings Island opens Saturday they closed the same weekend CP did, and yet they'll be ready to go. It's just criticism, it's not like CP is your girlfriend, people are allowed to say mean things about the park.

UpsideDown! :-)

I have never worked at either park but coming from a maintenance background, I am 100% sure that the weather in Cinci and Sandusky are two entirely different animals. I do not see this as a fair comparison when it comes to off season maintenance timelines. Seems to me that they would pretty much get an extra 60 days of decent weather in Cinci. One month on both ends of the off season.

No coaster will ever be too fast or too tall!

I guess that could be true if all maintenance was conducted outdoors. CP has indoor maintenance space and they put up walls and add heaters to the picnic shelters and then do maintenance "indoors" there too.

I have to agree with dtChriso8. We don't know the process it takes to certify rides and have them ready. Most of you just assume you know. I also think, if you don't like what the park has to offer on Opening Day, then simply quit complaining and just don't go. Because it is a lot easier to sit behind a computer screen and nit pick petty little things, rather than know what actually goes on

All this discussion seems like a moot point to me, why not wait until opening day when you can actually tell how ready the park is instead of having a cat fight now? I can't remember a year when the park wasn't ready.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

A cement truck has been pouring cement in the middle of TTD. Here is a pic.

If you look at the webcam now, it looks like there is a strip of concrete from the Entrance area over to the Finish Line sign supports.
