TTD height req. and auction

It seems to me that 8 days before the end of the ride auction there should be a height requirement posted. I was going to bid for myself and my daughter. Opening day is less than 2 weeks away. How is someone supposed to plan a trip with their kids without this info.

I'm sure some of you will say it isn't wise to plan a trip for a new coaster because it could have problems and be down for an extended period. To me that's a load of horse maneur because everyone at the park on opening day will be there specifically to ride TTD.

CP has dropped the ball on this one. The height requirement should be set a lot sooner than <12 days to opening the ride.

I doubt you're going to find many people here who wouldn't be at CP on opening day even if Dragster was never built. I know I'd be there because there's Magnum, Raptor, MF, WT, Mantis, Blue Streak, Gemini, Happy Friar, Midway Market, the lake, the friendly employees, the people that I've met at the park of the past few years, and the list goes on.

As for the height requirement, I'd say we'd all be stupid to think it's going to be anything less than 48 inches. At the same time, it could be as high as 54 inches as MF was its first year. Xcelerator, which seems to have identical restraints has a 52" height requirement. I'd bet on that being the height requirement, but we all know that CP is very different from Knott's when it comes to ride operations so who knows?

Also, keep in mind that although it would be great to have the height requirement announced by now, they are actually doing the testing to determine this type of stuff as we speak so it wouldn't be any more right for them to announce something and then discover something during testing and change what they said.

I know I would have gone to Opening Day if TTD wasn't built. I go every year for the same reason, I love Cedar Point!

Yes, all the enthusiasses will be there regardless of TTD but many of us live very far away and can only go once a year. You guys need to think of the average person and what attracts them to a park. Enthusiasses make up a very small percentage of the people at a park. I guess on this forum most of you have plans on going.

I live in Miami and to spend over 1k on a trip I would like to know that it's OK to take my daughter. I don't live1,2 or even 8 hours from Cedar Point. The fact is that this ride auction is a once in a lifetime event and they don't have a height requirement set 8 days before the auction ends. Have any of you ever tried to ook a flight a week in advance? It's not exactly cost effective to book a flight last minute.

Maybe they don't care about that and just want locals to bid in the auction. I can't recall any coaster that has waited so close to opening to announce a height requirement.

If it were me (and it's not) I would call the park to see if the bid can be made contingently. In other words, have an agreement up front that if your daughter isn't tall enough that your bid can be withdrawn.

However, if you are saying that you won't even go unless she can ride Dragster, you may as well just wait until you know the specs, and then decide whether or not to make a trip. Will you be involved in the ride auction, or even an opening day ride? Probably not. Will you get to have a great trip with your daughter? Absolutely.

And yes, I book flights one week in advance (or less) all the time. And no, it is not cheap. But that's the way it goes. You can probably swing an affordable, last-minute flight via priceline or hotwire if you are willing to be flexible. That's particularly true for a south Florida departure, since the bulk of the weekend traffic will be going in the opposite direction (go south, get warm for the weekend).

Is a "Enthusiasses" anything like a enthusiast?

Kind of, Sparty. An Enthusiass is an obnoxious enthusiast. We all know the type ;)

Yeah the kind of enthusiast who nit-picks about every little thing including spelling.

The height requirement is 52 inches. Just heard this from Neo's thread called "heads up". He says he got the info. from his seasons pass booklet that he just got today with his photo i.d.

Is "a enthusiast" anything like "an enthusiast?" :P

Thanks a bunch. I guess it's a go for me.
I guess I just don't understand why you didn't call the park and find out for yourself instead of coming on here and whining about how CP "dropped the ball on this one" :oP

I called the park and the red cross. What I don't understand is why you assumed that I didn't. Also, I wasn't whining. I had a legitimate concern and expressed it here because if someone that works on the site, or someone else, had the info I could get it before it was posted on the site(which happened, by the way). It isn't exactly confidential information that an employee couldn't give on this site(I think).

I also don't understand how a mail out was printed and sent before the site was updated. CP was great about updating their site a couple of years ago when MF's cable broke before I went to visit.

BTW, your post shows your age. I thought it was a high school kid until I saw your profile.

So typical.........

...and also, I don't see how someone can make a trip based primarily on a newly opening coaster? Then get mad when things don't go their way

Actually, the trip was based on an auction that is taking place. EVERY person that bids on the auction is bidding with the mindset that the coaster will be open for the event.(funny how that works!) Why wouldn't I expect the coaster to be operating when they are auctioning off seats for it that so far have gone up to as high as $450?

Do you two just not get it????

Yes, I do have a problem when there is an auction taking place that doesn't have concrete rules set before it closes.

Isn't there a Playstation forum you guys can go to for a while?

VIP? how tall is your daughter? If she's good for a 52" height restriction, I can't imagine many rides she couldn't ride.... save the witches wheel by herself. I'm 21 and can't ride that darn thing by myself at CP. Kennywood on the other hand...

She's 52" without shoes. I just wanted to do something special that we would both remember. We went a couple of years ago and found it to be an awesome park. I was very impressed with the atmosphere at CP.
Ahh Perfect. VIP I have one suggestion for you. Have her wear comfortable tennis shoes that do not artificially alter her height. I am not sure how they run things the morning of the VIP ride, but as soon as possible take her to Park Operations located beside the womens restroom in Kiddy Kingdom and have her officially measured and get her a 52" wristband. It is PROVEN that people shrink as the day goes on. It is not a problem unless you have a child who is very near the height requirement for a ride. Please, save both of you some troubles and get her measured ASAP. Then you won't have to stand and wait as an employee scrutinizes her height at every 52" ride entrance.

Gotcha! Thanks.

...and is there a shrink you can see, cause obviously you get worked up over something as a rollercoaster.

Again, why complain when you can get the direct answer from Cedar Point, themselves?
