I was up at the park today and I did not notice the gold train. Does dragster usually run 5 or 6 trains
Did it not have a black train as well? If not my Old Timers disease is acting up.
I saw the red, blue, black cherry, and green.
I was there today and saw them all running.

Unless something has changed, they only run 5 trains during the day. All 6 are tested concurrently in the morning then one is transferred off before the park opens.
Today they have blue, purple, green, red, and black cherry running. There are no trains on the transfer track.
Maybe the gold train is in maintenance.
Gold Train is next to MF's green train in the bay. Terrible accident happend that no one talks about.
Why?
Edit: Wow that took me way too long to find.

Reading the history of that ride makes Intamin look like B&M compared to Gerstlauer.
Bolts falling off causing a gap in the tracks!?
People getting hit by the wheels falling off the coaster!?
The difference between Gerstlauer and Intamin though is Intamin's US President has been quoted asking what an acceptable number of accidents would be.
Gerstlauer has had problems with this. Some were valleying and the sort, that just happens, that's not their fault. The bolt deal, chain guide wheels, and this though are quite surprising. I'd like this ride to get its act together, I love it, it looks and seems brilliant. It's why I've had my avatar as such for years. But we will see.

I'm very surprised on seeing that crash today! What a terrible accident! This sort of thing is something that you only see in Roller Coaster Tycoon.
I'm surprised that the ride was actually able to run with a train still on course. I would think that there is a series of safety precautions that are put into the controls program that would prevent the next train to crest the lift hill before the previous train cleared a stretch of prox sensors signalling that the course is clear. If you think about it, the whole reason of having the roller coasters run on programs is to prevent accidents like this.
It is shocking... I wonder if it could be a blocking brake failure of some kind? I can't imagine a modern roller coaster running more than one train on a course without a MCBR between them. In my younger days playing RCT2 I remember almost never running blocked sections on my rides - not wanting to sacrifice any capacity for the safety of my guests (looking back.. my coasters did crash quite often!) To see it in real life though is surprising. Also I imagine there may be specific safety guidelines here in the U.S. that could be different across the pond. Scary stuff.

According to one article, they were advised of the disabled train and failed to investigate.
It's a horrible accident.

That ride is no different, which is why much of the speculation is that the ride was running in manual mode. I imagine that most places would institute rules that say you never run a ride manually when it's loaded.
