TTD Article in Funworld Magazine

There's a small article in this month's Funworld magazine on the announcement of TTD. In the article, it gives the general stats and such that everyone here is familiar with. It also states that the Amusement Ride Safety Division of the Ohio Department of Agriculture licensed the ride, and it will be operating for more than a month before it opens to the general public. This should answer anyone's questions on how much testing will be done for this new monster.

At that rate, we should see those shiny new trains flying around the track very, very soon!

WOW, testing for more than a month? Didn't start testing Wicked Twister like at the beginning of May?

I think WT started testing in April, could be wrong though.
Wicked Twister had over 4,000 cycles before May 3rd. ------------------

and. We saw all the problems Wicked Twister had throughout the season even with 4,000+ cycles. I wouldn't put too much faith in that, but I do expect Top Thrill Dragster to have a much higher reliability this year. Oh, and WT too.

Brian I hate to say this.........but I think TTD will have more down time than WT did last year. That's if TTD is anything like HYPERSONIC, but they ARE made by two different companies.

I doubt TTD will have more downtime than WT did last year. It takes a major problem (read: the structural integrity of WT's spikes) to cause that sort of downtime. It's impossible to predict, but I'm guessing that it will be more like MF in its opening year.

World's first strata-coaster!

Could be like MF. But I just think that TTD will have many problems like other coasters like it. I had a season pass to PKD last year and Hypersonic was down all the time and then finally they would only allow X number rides a day b/c it just had to many problems. BUT I sure as heck hope I'm wrong. You're right it is impossible to predict.

Where can I find information on the structural integrity of Wt's spikes at?
Comparing Dragster to Hypersonic is quite a stretch not only because they are made by 2 different companies, but the ride design itself is totally different(Hypersonic's air launch vs. Dragster's hydraulic launch). Comparing it to Xcelerater is a better comparison, but I do recall hearing that Xcelerater did have a considerable amount of problems this past year. But with this being a much bigger project than Xcelerater, and just that this is CP, I think the problems will be minimal.
