Day 1: Top Thrill Dragster. Closed. Unbelievable. I don’t care what people say, about how “with new technology these types of problems are typical…” that is absolutely ridiculous. Note to Cedar Point management: If you are going to build a TWENTY-FIVE million dollar roller coaster – maybe it should work most of the time. I’m pretty sure that when Japan opened up their big roller coasters in the last three years, they didn’t have this many problems or delays.
I’m not sure which was worse, the fact that the stupid thing didn’t work, the humidity, or the fact that more than 200 people were waiting in line for Top Thrill Dragster while it was down. That’s right, these people paid money to wait in line for NOTHING!!! Unreal. We asked these same people WHY they would wait for something not even having test runs going, to which they replied they were told that the TTD would be ready to be tested at 6 or 7pm that night. By 10pm, the first few trains, er, sorry – Dragsters with no tail – got tested. No people rode it that day.
Also, we got in line for the Magnum XL 200 only to have someone announce that it too was down…we got out of line. 5 minutes later, it’s up and running again. Amazing. It seems the geniuses at Cedar Point REALLY know what’s going on.
Day 2: TTD still closed. BIG surprise. Funny - the signs at the front gate warning us of TTD’s closure seemed to be permanent. So, we got in line FOR A HAND-STAMP at Millennium Force. We wait for 30 minutes, get to the front of the HAND STAMP line HOPING that we can ride in the 10pm-11pm slot, only to have the jerk employees smirk at us with, “Sorry, we just gave out the last hand stamps.” Now, I can’t blame them for bad luck – but two things really angered me: 1) The employees acted like they were surprised that we would be upset at this and 2) Couldn’t CP have found a way to tell us that the people in front of us were last to get a stamp so we wouldn’t waste time in line?
After this, we decided to just get in line…and then a voice announced: “Millennium Force will be down….” Yet another roller coaster down… niiiiice.
Our goal was to hit all of the roller coasters at CP, and we could have done it except that we then found “Blue Streak” (which the Sandusky HIGH SCHOOL is named for) was down, as well as the Cedar Creek Mine ride or whatever. These two plus TTD left us short of hitting all of them.
So finally, they actually got the Top Thrill Junker up and working. Amazing. Gee, and only a three-to-four hour wait, which I would NOT have minded waiting in, except that by then, we couldn’t wait that long because we had to catch a flight. I read on another post that the ride reallly started breaking down when it got hotter.
Anyway, while riding a couple of other rides and WATCHING this roller coaster for a little bit, it was down no fewer than FIVE times in two hours, only to have it resume running in 5-10 minutes. Sounds like a great ride. Thank you Cedar Point.
im not sure if you were trying to complain about just dragster being down or if it was because of all the different rides being down. If you went all the way from colorado to ride just dragster, then thats rediculous. magnum you said was back up in five minutes, there is never more than like a 10 minute wait for magnum- just get back in line!
now dont get me wrong, im not trying to be rude like some people im sure would love to start digging at you, im just saying that sometimes s*it happens.
and im sure those guys at the MF FreeWay would like you to know your welcome.

What do you care if other people waited in line all day for a closed coaster? You didn't. Stop complaining and enjoy the day.
Couldn’t CP have found a way to tell us that the people in front of us were last to get a stamp so we wouldn’t waste time in line?
What do you want them to do? Count exactly how many people are in line for Freeway at all times?
Anyway, is there anything you don't want to complain about (you complain about the local high school, for Pete's sake)?
Honestly, was there a single aspect of your trip that you actually enjoyed?
Funny. The people I met in Colorado last week were much more pleasant than this.
One bonus is that airfare to Ohio is much more affordable then to Japan. Another is that without TTD, Blue Streak and the Coal Mine Ride....that left you with 10+ rollercoasters to enjoy. Not bad in my book.
