Trip Tips for a first timer.

I've never actually been to CP before but i'm hoping to make my first trip there this summer. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get to go on all the best coasters and see the best shows in just 1 day, or even if you can give me some other places where i can get tips that would be a big help .

Thanks.

Take a look around this site and the official CP website for answers to these common questions.

For any trip always make sure you have time for Millennium Force, Wicked Twister, Raptor, Magnum, Power Tower, and Mantis. Also the best one of all TOP THRILL DRAGSTER!!!

New For 2003 Top Thrill Dragster Tallest Coaster Ever!!

Thanks for your help. I'm hoping to try to save TTD for last. I've also heard about the "Freeway" (i think that's right), and i was wondering how that works and which coaster i should use it for. Any help is appreciated.

It's a stamp that you get on your hand for only one coaster a day. Obviously get it for Dragster because you will be able to skip the huge line. It gives you an hour long window to virtually skip the wait and merge into the line. They start doing them at 11:00 am, so be sure that you are there for the one for Dragster around this time. They only give out so many, and once they are gone, you're SOL for skipping the line on that ride.

What is most anticipated event of 2003? the debut of Dragster, the release of Metallica's new album, the release of Terminator 3, or the release of Matrix:Reloaded...tough call.

Start early. You'd be surprised how much you can accomplish before noon, even on the busiest days.

I'm not sure with the addition of Dragster, but I always love to get one of the last rides of the night on MF, which is easily accomplished by slipping into the line several minutes before the park closes. The darkness adds so much to the ride in my opinion, but Raptor's pretty cool at night too. It isn't technically a part of CP, but I think you'd enjoy ripcord if you don't mind paying the extra 20 bucks. It's a pretty cool experience.

Enjoy your ride on the big bad bug

Thanks alot everyone! I hope that this helps anyother first timers that read these forums (i hope i'm not the only one!). And mantis_man, i've been on a ride just like ripcord at my home park (Paramount Canada's Wonderland) and you're right, I love it!

Go to the back of the park at night. Everyone is heading for the front gates, and Gemini, mean streak, and magnum have really short lines. Don't ride Raptor or WT first because everyone does that. I usually ride Magnum in the morning because no one else wants to walk that far in the morning. Also, try to get a nighttime freeway stamp so you can ride TTD (or anything else) when it's dark out. Just my advice. Enjoy your trip!

The big hill, the sheer drop, the incredible speed. Long live Millennium Force!

One important thing to remember is do not get in line for Millennium Force right before the park closes. I reccomend that everyone ride either Magnum or Top Thrill Dragster at that time. :)
I may have the opportunity to go to Cedar Point on the may long weekend (May 17-18-19), and i was wondering how the crowds are that weekend.

I couldn't agree more with your comment Walt. I have noticed so many times that I have accomplished so much before noon and I look at my watch in shock because it's only noon. However, it also gives me a good feeling because I know I have at least 10-12 hours left, depending on the day. Start early is the best advice and always remember, you don't have to rush from coaster to coaster to complete them all. I have never gone on a trip where I haven't ridden all the coasters. I often have extra time to ride my favorites 2 or 3 times.

Get a show schedule when you get to the park. If you are making good progress, stop and see a show to get out of the hot afternoon sun. My favorites are Snoopy Rocks on Ice and Hooray for Hollywood.

ONE freeway stamp a day... ONE

Memorial Day is usually a good day to go to the park, except last year. I think I rode one or two coasters, and the parking lot was COMPLETELY full. Previous years, the park was more or less dead. The trend may be changing....

99 Mitsu GSX 13.9 @ 94 mph - whoops, wrong board...

2002 25 minute MF rides: 1
2002 45 minute waits on Raptor platform w/o riding: 1
2002 trips to the point: not near enough
2002 Raptor Crew??? Oh yeah, you know it...

My only advice would be to go with the flow. I know many people that have been so caught up in planning their trip that they forget why they are at the park. If you feel like going to a show, go! Want to ride a coaster again? Do it! You can always come again later in the summer.
