From the sounds of it, Kelce's intentions are pure as he posted home videos of his childhood trips to CP and him and his brother talked about their favorite rides on their podcast. But part of me thinks this is just part of the JANA playbook to use a celebrity name to give a positive stigma to what they really want to do which probably would be at odds with the long term viability of the company as an amusement park business. I may not have all the details correct on how this will go, but it will be something like this. They will probably push for the company to be split into two with one entity being a real estate company and the other being the amusement park operator (Prop Co and Op Co). The land under the parks will be "sold" by the amusement operator(the Op Co) to the real estate company (the Prop Co) and then the real estate company will lease the land back to the amusement operator. This will lighten the debt load of the amusement operator by putting a good chunk of the debt onto the real estate company. The problem will come later as the real estate company will want to maximize their revenues and will demand fair market lease rates from the parks (meaning the amusement operator has a large fixed cost they didn't have before which means less available capital for park upgrades) or worse yet see that they can make more off the land by evicting the park and either leasing to someone else to build warehouses, etc or selling altogether for development (houses, apartments, retail, etc).

The good news is that if something like that does end up happening with the chain (and I think there's a non-zero chance of that happening), Cedar Point would likely be one of the only parks where Six Flags would retain ownership of the land simply because, well, it's Cedar Point. It's easily the most unique property in the combined portfolio with the resorts, employee housing, entire park situated on a peninsula, etc.
Not sure why people are jumping to conclusions already.
All he did was invest in the stock market is all, so nothing to worry about at this point.
Will Six Flags America close for good in a couple of weeks as announced; yes
Will CGA close for good at the end of the season that is announced to; yes.
So unless somebody knows something that we don’t, as far as we know the parks and the land they sit on would be safe.
Also, I realize that everybody has their own personal taste of music, but not sure why people wouldn’t like hearing Taylor Swift music on the midways if they decide to play some of her songs, most of them are really good.

I admit I haven't followed her career and am not familiar with her songs but see that she is one of, if not the most popular ones these days. Good for her, she seems super talented. I do remember first seeing a glimpse of it way back on an episode or a few of the original CSI Las Vegas. She played the teen-age daughter of the Marg Helgenberger character.
Can't believe I'm commenting on Taylor Swift discussion. Look what you made me do!

I think it's less to do with Kelce, which, as someone else said, is likely just the celebrity face meant to put a positive spin on the endeavor. There's a pretty substantial track record of the playbook that "activist investor" firms use when they get a large enough stake in companies, including what JANA has done elsewhere. It would be naive to think that they'll do things differently here just because they got a celebrity endorsement this time around.
