Traveling from Albany NY

I was wondering did anyone ever drive to Cedar Point from upstate NY around the Albany area? I was wondering how long it takes to get from there to Cedar Point...I know before you alll yell at me to use Map Quest...that is very unaccurate and estimates if you're driving at 65MPH which I know no one does! lOL...sO Any idea? please reply!

My wife's family lives in the Albany area. Depending on how often you stop - and for how long - you're looking at about 8.5 hours.

Make sure you stop at Buffalo and have soem wings at the Anchor Bar on the way. :) For those of you dont know what the anchor bar is, that is where Buffalo Wings originated.

Anchor Bar wings are pretty heavenly! :) Walt is right - around 8 hours. I've made the trip all the way to CP from my parents' house in Scotia a couple times. You will probably need one stop for gas before you exit New York. On the way back, you'll probably want to fill up in Ohio because their gas has been cheaper than NY or PA. The trip is boring but very easy driving. Well over half of it is just the NYS Thruway. Just stay on 90 through Cleveland and then use Route 2 to the Rye Beach Rd exit, take a right, then a left at the light (by the Shell Station) and drive a few miles and you will run right into the Causeway on your right. Don't use the 271 South to 480 to the Turnpike as some directions suggest. It is way out of the way.

Scotia is also where my wife's mom lives. We usually make the trek to the Wolf Rd. Marriott twice a year. I keep saying I want to get up to Great Escape, but there's never enough time.

Anchor Bar is the original, but for my money Duff's wings are better.

Walt: do make a point to get to GE. It's a very cute park with a nice "small family park" atmosphere.

Here's my thing. Frank's Red Hot sauce, while being a critical ingredient of most wing sauces in the world, can not stand on its own. It has to be mixed with other spices and sauces to be made really good. Duffs wings were drenched in something that tasted exactly like Frank's. For their extra hot wings, they charged you more and just dumped some more Franks in the bowl. They can't compete in my opinion. I like chicken wings almost as much as Cedar Point and anyone who knows me can vouch for that! :) I'll probably have a heart attack this summer while doing a lift walk or something since I eat so many! But anywho! ;)

Yea - Great Escape is worth going to for the Comet. For a while, I actually liked the Comet better than the Phoenix at Knoebels, but it's been a while since I've ridden the Comet and the last time I rode the Phoenix, it was really impressive!

Hey Matt I heard the rumor that you love ribs too. Like Applebees all you can eat ribs. Remeber the night we ate like 2 plates full each and took a plate full hopme with us lol.
I live in the Albany, NY area and I drive out to CP about 2 times a year. One year I made it there in about 7 1/2 hours but my dad wasa flying just under 80 the whole way there, with just 2 stops. But it usually take me between 7 5/6 and 8 1/2 hours to get there. I'm going in 14 days, I can't wait!
