Travel delays?

*** Edited 4/30/2006 12:39:07 PM UTC by Speed***

Is there any major construction on SR2, or the Ohio Turnpike? Or even on (SR?)250? I know Interstate 280 thru Toledo may cause some delays. Any other delays that someone may know of?

Um, are you having a little trouble posting?

Check out this site for construction info on major roads in Ohio:

Im having a hard time reading where exactly the road closures are. If i am coming south from 275 will 280 be open so that i can travel on route 2?

I 280 will be closed until at least august according to the odot website. I travel to Cleveland often and have been following 75 to the turnpike. 475 in Toledo is also under construction.

There's also construction for 7 miles on I-275.

One major note to those who like Route 2. It's going to be CLOSED this weekend (opening weekend) at the Bono Curve. I was slightly surprised to see a warning to "Cedar Point Opening Weekend - Route 2 at the Bono Curve will be closed to traffic".

to clarify Ben's post, there is construction on I-75 Between I-275 and the Ohio Border:

Reduced to two lanes in both directions (Monroe County). US-23 or Telegraph Road can be used as alternate routes. Scheduled completion: November 15.

Add in the closures of ramps from westbound 475 to northbound 23, and southbound 23 to eastbound 475.

All of these are long term lasting into November.

And for this weekend only, northbound 75 at Luna Pier (exit 5)

Right lane closed. This area will be reduced to one lane between 9 a.m. and Noon Thursday, May 4. Expect delays. Scheduled completion: May 8.

On the bright side, except for the construction at 475/23, and construction at 94 and 23 with intermittent lane closures, it appears 23 is relatively clear down to the turnpike. Quite a bit out of my way, but my only alternative is to ditch at Telegraph (24) at 275 and try to work my way back to 75 after crossing the border.

Between the construction and cost of gas, along with the crappy economy in Michigan, I doubt Cedar Point is going to see a lot of Michigan guests this year. At the very least, I'll bet the number of trips will be reduced.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

One of my bosses has to do a lot of business in Cleveland. He just told me that construction on 75 is not bad and it only adds a 10 minute delay onto his ride down there, and that is only if he driving during a busy hour (ie: afternoons, rush hours etc...)

The area in question is a very sparse rural area of sorts. You will encounter most of the traffic headaches at or near the exit(s) for Monroe near the Lazy Boy factory.

Anyone heading down tomorrow from Detroit will want to check this article from the free press out.

Brief synopsis:

696 East closed from Gratiot to Groesbeck
696 West closed from 94 to VanDyke

I75 closures:
SB from 696 to Davison
A CF of closures around M-59
NB and SB between Bush and Cass will be one lane alternating Saturday/Sunday
The ramps from 75 to the Lodge will be closed

Anyway, give it a read to check

Thanks Jugga, anyone reccomend any way to get back onto 75?

From Clawson, you are probably better off going 696 to 10 to 94 to 275 to 75. Again check with the other construction issues, but because of the full out closures on on 75, this may be your best bet tomorrow.

I'll try that out. Thanks.

10 is closed until November. Infact that whole exit is messed up, so it might cause some delay heading down 696.

Keep going down 696 until you reach 275.

You could always go down to 163 which is the first road south of the turnpike on I-280. Make a left there, follow it and it eventually runs into the Freeway portion of OH-2.
