track Q.

I know this is a stupid question but what exactly is the point of the bottom two rails on the track. This Q. goes for all intamin box track, not just the new ride's track.
I'm not a physics expert, but the box design with the cross members gives it pretty good strength. They just use the same size rail all around for the outside parts of the "box"
for the beautiful symmetry of it all.
I realize the symmetry post was meant in jest, but I think Intamin track looks great!

They aren't rails, it's just the bottom of the track.

Like that center "rail" on Arrow track.

The reason it is like that is so they can flip it over when on half wears out. j/k
obviously for support reason hense the huge amount of un supported track on MF
The bottom two "rails" or chords, are the tension elements of Intamin's truss track system. When a load (train) is on the track, it causes compression in the top rails and tension in the bottom rails...simple structural dynamics. What would you suggest to take up the tension instead of those two "rails" ?

Not put anything there and have a contest on how long the ride will last, Seth.

So its just like the bottom support rail on arrow and morgan track only there's 2 and they just make it the same size as the run rails
because its easier. It's all coming together to me now. Thanx guys :-)
