Town Hall Museum

I noticed that in one of the pictures of the construction markings that it's really close to the Town Hall Museum. Do any of you think if a new ride is put in this area the museum will be torn down?

I hope it isn't. I really enjoy walking through it and looking at the antiques and the models of some of the rollercoasters. It's really relaxing, I think.

Those markings are to indicate where certain utilities are. They're not necessarily spots for removal.

I highly doubt they'd tear it down, since its such an integral part of FT.

Yeah The Town Hall Muesuem rocks dude. We can't tear that down! That would be like removing Snake River Falls. I can't see either going. The markings are too close to the building to plant a support near it, unless they are trying to do a corkscrew move. I highly doubt a coaster would pop up that close to Town Hall.

Yeah, but they may need to know where the water lines are coming from so they can do the bathroom remodel. I think people are expecting too much this offseason, and we'll see something a bit smaller.

I just find it funny that anytime someone see's any sort of makings, they automatically assume its for a new ride/coaster. It could be for anything.

I never said anything about assuming they are for a ride of any type. I just took pics because I noticed the markings. Is it wrong to be curious now? If we get anything, I'm not expecting anything bigger than a HUSS giant flat.

As for Town Hall Museum going, that has just about as much of a chance of being torn down as Hotel Breakers or the Coliseum. They were most likely just for utilities that run along the building.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Well, when I was working in Zone 4 this summer... its hard to imagine what else besides a coaster it could be- I saw MOST the gold tags out there, DK, Hild, MJ, etc... a few silver tags as well...

BTW, I would think they would move Town Hall. Why else does the old guy in there take count every day of how many people come in?

djDaemon's avatar

Perhaps they were simply evaluating the moving of the hall, only to decide it wasn't feasible. Just a thought (but its prolly not feasible). As for counting people, I think its the government...

But, seeing DK (reminds me of Donkey Kong when I see his initials ;) ) and other VIPs out there does raise an eyebrow...

They have to fill out a Daily Operational Report like every other ride. They've been taking a count since 2003 at least. Probably longer, but I never noticed it.

I've seen Dick Kinzel and Hildebrandt all over the park, in the parking lots and at Soak City. I wouldn't read too much into it.

i hear you: but didn't you read... most the gold tags were there. I counted about 6, plus about 4 silver tags.

all right near Snake River Falls... armed with spray paint, digi cams, and measurements.

Who's MJ?

And wait, Town Hall has to do a DOR? That's insane!

I'm pretty sure they do. They keep numbers, so I would assume they just fill out a D.O.R. "Townhall All units down from 13:37-14:10 Reason: Bathroom, smoke and lunch break.. plus what the heck, rollback" ;)

I still don't think it really is much. Why would Dick Kinzel and Hildebrant and what not make measurements? No offense, but they're above that. They have grunts do that. Grunts they pay good money.

I still say it's not a coaster. I'd believe a flat. I'd believe a better restroom. I'd believe an area 'rejuvination'. I'd believe town hall improvements. I'd believe another place to eat or sit down restaurant. I don't believe for a second a coaster is going in. Especially when they can't afford to keep all 16 running for the weekends.............

Sometimes what you see on paper looks VERY different in person. Many of the "big wigs" where I work check measurements and site plans at the job site to get a better picture of things. True, the grunts likely made all of the measurements for the engineers, but sometimes you need to actually be there looking at what was measured to get a better spatial idea of what is going on.

When I was up there last weekend, I looked closely at the area between the Mine Ride station, the Mine Ride track, the Snake River Falls pond, Town Hall Museum, and the gazebo.

So far the only construction-type markings I have seen are the arrow and the dot. The dot is on the ground near the corner of the Town Hall porch, and the arrow is on the ground in front of the fence next to the Mine Ride shop/transfer table building. My reasons for looking particularly at that area were simple: first, that's where the first markings have appeared, and second, that part of the midway is still asphalt.

Right now, there isn't a lot of free space there. It was pretty obvious to me, though, that there is an awful lot of space *wasted* there. First of all, the Frontier Lift building is significantly larger than it needs to be to accommodate the restrooms, and is probably not the most efficient space for use for storage of any kind. That is, there are dead spaces in and around that building owing to the (long disused) entrance and exit ramps. Next, the Mine Ride exit ramp takes up a lot of space, and extends a very long distance away from the ride. By removing the sluice from the station, they could easily come up with enough clearance to have the exit ramp run parallel to the brake run and down to the midway. Doing those two simple things would open up an unexpectedly large rectangular plot of ground which, based on the construction site at another park, would be adequate to accommodate the leading rumor. In fact, it would probably be sufficient to relocate the Mine Ride exit, perhaps even running it down the former Frontier Lift exit ramp (although that ramp is quite narrow and is possibly too steep). There is even more space available in the area now occupied by the Snake River Falls queue, a large portion of which never gets used, even on the hottest days.

So that's what I am thinking right now. I genuinely know NOTHING about the park's plans at this time.

Wow, how is everyone missing that wooden stake right next to SRF's queue?! I wasn't even looking for markings when I noticed that, not to mention its at least two, maybe three feet out of the ground. *** Edited 9/9/2005 10:01:13 PM UTC by BlueStreak64***

oh by the way, you guys also didn't see the markers in the "employees only area" (even restricted to most ride ops...)
