Hey guys. Sorry to put a damper on your Easter, but I heard some terrible news today.
I have a friend who is interning at the park this off-season in accounting and he just told me that RMC trucks have stopped by with new track to replace the bunny speed hill after the first drop with straight track. Apparently, during testing, riders would pull much more negative G's then they anticipated and it would cause an immense strain on the riders. Thus, they have to replace it with straight track. There's no word on if it will impact its opening day, but I'm hoping not.
I'm not mad at RMC for this, as it is very easy for mathematical error at the design phase of the coaster. I think this is more akin to a "Frontiertown Curse". Maverick's third inversion had to be removed (ironically for similar reasons), Skyhawk's arm dislodged during a ride cycle, etc. Hopefully, this curse will subside and not take roots for decades, like the Chicago Cubs World Series drought.
I'm glad that Cedar Point is paying close attention to safety and keeps it as the number one priority for guests. I just hope that all these entitled enthusiasts will understand that as they proceed to moan and groan at the park over this unfortunate reality.
:P
