Top Thrill not big enough!

By the way, Dgenx321, I love your signature....
There is a little thing called "R&D" -- typically a requirement on new designs and concepts. It costs money, but seemingly a lot of people overlook this when they gawk at the price of new/unique coasters like TTD.
Well, billy bob has a point, but he does it in a rude way...

You can only go so fast before the wind rips off your skin, or if a bird hits you it will just smash your head like a sledge hammer, but that kind of speed on a coaster is a long time in the future from here.

You can only go so high before there is not enough oxygen to breath, but again, we are still a long way away from that too.

Now on the other hand, you other people obviously didn't think about what he's trying to say, or take his post seriously at all.

I'm guessing that as rollercoasters begin to become as high and fast as billy bob here is talking about, there will be some kind of protection for us, (helmits, goggles, etc.)and that would take care of the "too fast" or "too high" problem. So in other words yes you can definately go faster than that. There's the nice way to argue with that. Oh and billy bob, how bout working on YOUR communication skills while you're at it. Phrases like "You are stupid" and "cp fagatic" are really not necessary things to post, and they just cause you to be less liked in a group of large people.

man, thats so stupid. Not tall enough? Nobodys going to beat it this year
You also have to take into consideration that it took them 11 years from magnum to millenium force to add the next 100 feet, and CP just did it in three years. I think CP will have to atleast have the records for a couple of years because they did it so quick, and other parks may not have been ready for it. One more thing I noticed was that there were over 15 actual roller coasters over 200 feet when MF was built, and there are only 2 actual roller coasters over 300 feet right now. Just another indicator of how quick CP reached 400.

Isn't there a rumor of a place in Las Vagas building a 500 Ft Fish Hook? Yes it is a rumor, but I just had to throw it in there.
The fishhook coaster was slated for Stratosphere Tower to compliment the Let it Ride: High Roller coaster and Big Shot S&S Space Shot.

The plans were turned down.

I thought I heard that also Gravity. Thanks for the info.
I thought that Vegas coaster looked like a total drag. The whole ride seemed like it would be more of a freefall ride anyway. Just imagine the debate we would have if it was built... is it an actual coaster? haha

Well everyone seems to think TTD is going to hold these records for so long. But the truth is, like some said, the technology is moving so fast these days, parks are making bigger and faster roller coasters easier. It does'nt look like it, but seriously a different park will probably break all TTDs records within a year. I'm not saying it is easy to build these rides but it is becoming more common. Really the only barrier for a park is time and money. If they have the money at the right time they will be able to do bigger and faster things than CP. Does Japan hve money? Yes. My guess, if anyone cares, a park in Japan will shatter this record by NEXT summer, not in three years. But to the general topic of this post: Everyone that rode xcelerator at knott's berry farm knows this ride is going to either be #1 in there books, or a close second to MF. Trust me, this ride is going to be XtaC.
My question is why hasn't this topic been closed yet? Several people have made comments on when we will break 500 or Top Thrill Dragster will lose the record but this one has gone on. It's also causing people to become corrupt. This is the second time I've even looked in this thread because I saw it once and decided not to look at it again. But then I decided just to see what all the fuss was about so I took a peak. Let me just say this. If you don't agree with what someone has to say, announce it lightly, or don't even respond. That's my $.2.

My question is what difference does it make? Did someone die and make you moderator?

DELETED!

Extremely tall rollercoasters like this look amazing and I can't wait to ride TTD. But I also think that parks should stop trying to beat each other with height and speed just so they can have bragging rights. Cedar Point is way better than SFMM but X at SFMM is one of the best ideas I've seen just because there is nothing like it anywhere else. My point is that CP should come out with something different and intense like nothing else seen before.
You act as if CP hasn't ever done anything "different and intense like nothing else seen before." Nobody ever saw a Giga coaster before MF. Nobody ever saw a double-twisting impulse before WT. Nobody ever saw a strata-coaster before TTD.
