Turns out that the footers for Dragster were not as deep as they should have been, and the ride was not properly anchored in the bedrock. As such, modifications will probably need to be made to the ride fairly soon.
Because of all the publicity, the ride will open on May 4th, but will only operate for about half the season. In late July supposedly, the ride will shut down for about 4-5 weeks, so that new holes could be drilled to anchor the ride into the bedrock, and slow the sinking.
If this work is not done, scientists say that the ride will slowly sink into the ground, at about a rate of 42" per year. Also, as the anchors will only slow down the sinking, and not make it fully stop (just about all buildings sink I think, its just that it takes a few hundred years), they will redo all the joints between track peices.
Hopefully these measures will help, and TTD won't be a $25 Million waste.
Oh, and the whole reason for the mix up:
The Canadians building it thought that since it was in the US, the measurements were in feet. Instead they were in Meters. Oops! (I heard this happened at NASA once)
