Top Thrill Dragster Midway

If you go to CP.com and click inside the park then thrill rides then complete height guide, you find they renaned Gemini Midway to Top Thrill Dragster Midway.... Check the key!!!
They've also renamed the Oceana Midway to Wicked Twister Midway.

Yes I was confused at first because of how Jeff B. explained it. You go to inside the park and then complete height guide in the top right. You do not click on thrill rides to get there. But just click the link pagoona gave you, it gets you right to it.
Also notice how they classified TTD as a Thrill Ride instead of a Roller Coaster.

I find the "Thrill Ride" classification for TTD very interesting. Even Wicked Twister is classified as a roller coaster. Could it just be a mistake? It is reffered to as a roller coaster everywhere else on the site, isn't it?

well, TTD's name is Top "Thrill" Dragster. It makes sense to me why they would classify it as a Thrill ride and not a roller coaster. But, then again it is Cedar Point's 16th "rollercoaster"...so that makes me wonder... oh and one other thing.. Cedar Point doesn't make mistakes :)

Just because it is a coaster dosen't mean the website person was thinking when he wrote that.

The only thing worse than people who make grammar mistakes are the people who have to point it out every ****ing time.

Guys and girls,

TTD is a thrill ride and a coaster, like every coaster at CP, If you go to the CP site and click Inside the Park to get to the coaster you click on THRILL RIDES. So Cedar point did not make a mistake

I just thought that if any of CP's perceived roller coasters would be called a "thrill ride" it would be Wicked Twister since it is not on a full circuit. There is apparently enough of a difference between thrill rides and roller coasters for CP to feel the need to classify them differently on that chart. Chaos and MF can not be said be any anything close to the same thing, hence Chaos - a thrill ride and MF- a roller coaster.

I'm all for TTD being called a roller coaster. But shwilson24 does bring up a good point. In my opinion a roller coaster is something that makes a complete circuit. Which then would give both Cedar Point and SFMM 15 roller coasters and not 16 as they advertise (15 and not 16 because of Wicked Twister and Superman:The Escape).

Wicked Twister is an INVERTED IMPULSE ROLLER COASTER. However, just to mention this. When SFMM built Goliath they said its the tallest in the world. That meaning that they disregarded S:TE as a roller coaster. Meaning the do have 15 now. I just think that is intresting, but does not have anything to do with this topic.

Now back on topic, Its cool that they named it TTD midway. But i think the idea of "Drag Strip" or somthing like that sounds really cool.

WTC plan Approved. A structure that will stand 1,776 feet in the NYC skyline. It will be the tallest tower in the WORLD!!!

Also off topic is the fact that along with SFMM's STE the Demon Drop is an ealier generation of the same kind of ride. DD actually goes in a complete circuit. So ... Cp should have 17 roller coasters vs. SFMM's 16 or CP should have 16 vs. 15 ant MM.

But, on topic I don't think that they should have changed the name of the midway. It has been the Gemini midway for 25 years why should they change it now. I liked the classicness (eventhough thats not a word) of the name.

If you don't like it, Shut Up and don't get in line.

Dan I hate to break it to you but sfmm has the same type of drop as Demon Drop.I'm not sure what it is called but if they counted that sfmm would be up one coaster to.
And we all know the record is really important, because of all of the people who have to decide which of the two parks they'll attend on a typical summer Saturday...

It's almost as ludicrous as my students' obvious depression after Michigan loses a football game.

Records (coaster or football) do not make you a better person, with the possible exception of the people who built the coaster or played in the games.

A coaster is always a thrill ride, but a thrill ride isn't necessarily a coaster. Kind of like how a square is a rectangle but not all rectangles are squares.
Is it May yet?
