They don't overheat, per say, but rather some rides in very hot weather are more prone to overspeed, which causes the ride to E-stop. Still it's not likely, and even if it does happen, they normally reset the error, and continue running.

Isn't Dragster prone to breaking more frequently if it's unbearably hot outside?

With unbearably hot being defined as anything above -273 C?

Jugga, until now, I never realized just how hot 0.15K is.
I know Dragster tends to roll back in the cold weather. I do think that Dragster may have more "short" down times in hot weather.

I asked Cedar Point about that last year and they said that none of the coasters over heat but the Space Spiral may be shut down if it's too hot.

Millennium Force
The Future is Riding On It.

when it get's hot you don't have to worry about the coasters, but the lines are a diffrent story. Who hear has stood in line for two hours to get on the Dragster on a 93 degree day?

2) Maverick
3) Raptor
4) Shivering Tembers
5) Magnum xl 200

Why stand in the sun waiting for Dragster for 2 hours when you can stand in the shade for 5 minutes and ride Magnum?

/agree with Ben.

101 on Magnum and counting...

because i'm stupid like that;). And the wait time for Magnum was well over five minutes.

None of the rides over heat but one part of Top Thrill would be prone to overheating if it wasn't for the special mist aimed for it. If some of you don't yet know what I'm talking about, I'm talking about the "tires/pulleys" on the end of the launch track where the cables run. If you watch even on a normal day there will be mist dripping all along the launch track that is used to cool the parts.

Disaster Transport 2012

That's not mist 'aimed' for the track to cool it. The entire trough in the track where the catch-car slides is cooled with a steady stream of running water. The same water you see dripping off the track in the launch run in front of the grandstands.

The 'mist' is simply water being thrown off the cable at a high rate of speed... it's not 'mist being aimed for cooling purposes' as you made it sound.

They wouldn't have to shut Space Spiral down if they fixed/replaced the air conditioning in the cabin!

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I was there on the 26th of June (hottest day of the year). It was like 93 degrees and none of the rides were closed.

I was there this past tuesday.. It was way too hot for anything. We left the park around 3:30 in the afternoon. I had to get out of there. I did discover earlier this year that MF is a lot faster in the middle of summer than any other time during the season.

I was at Geauga Lake this past Monday. The high was 92 degrees, and I rode most of the coasters at least once. After that, it was off to Wildwater Kingdom for the rest of the day!

Dragster runs faster in the heat. I was at the park tuesday the 10th of july and it didnt even slow over the tower. It flew over the top of the tower. It did 122 mph the whole day.

It all has to do with the wheels sticking and getting better traction on dragster, its the same reason a real dragsters heats up its tires and plus in the heat the track is for sure connecting becuase in the heat metal expands.

Sorry for making mist seem scientific;)

Dragster does not need traction between its wheels and the track. The wheels on the train do nothing to help propel the train. They simply roll on top of the track.
