When did they add those silly straps to the inside of the doors on Giant Wheel? Stuff like that strikes me as mind-numbingly stupid and a waste of money. How many decades did the ride run without those?

A kid could jump out of the sky ride if he/she wanted to. There aren't any restraints there.
Shhhh, not so loud. They'll hear and we'll be wearing seatbelts!
The other issue is that when CF builds new rides they don't tend to be just copies of others. Even though the new ride may not be considered "ground-breaking", it still has a decent sized drop, more than 2x the size of WWL's.

You might want to practice your math some more.
Shoot the Rapids is 85'
White Water Landing was 45'
That's not more than double.

Aren't the straps on Giant Wheel just the snap on clips that you can find on bookbags? It is not going to stop anyone from getting out if they wanted to.
Let's Get Weird.
I've always thought that as well. If someone wants to jump to their death, the straps are not going to deter them.
Maybe I shouldn't have said that. Now we're gonna see OTSRs on Giant Wheel. :)
TedFuzz. No longer manually signing posts. Too bad. =(
Cedar Point - America's Roller Coast!
Ron Paul 2008/2012!
Ted - It'd follow their recent line of thinking with seatbelts on Corkscrew and airgates on Gemini.

Nah, math is overrated. That's what the Son of Beast design engineers told me, anyway.
I was kinda going by memory since a quick search didn't yield an official stats page for WWL. Do you have those somewhere Jason? I never committed much about WWL to memory.
