hey im from strongsville (outside of cleveland) and my friends and I were planning to come to cedar point tomorrow. I kno the forecast says rain, but radar wise it looks like it may just be scattered...do you think we should still come???
Sounds like you should make a decision with your friends and watch the weather.
The park clears up and if it is empty it can mean super low wait times for rides.
No. Don't go. I'm in MN now and it has been raining literally 2 days non-stop. It just lights up, but still rains, then get's harder and thunders and lightnings. 4 people have already died because of flooding. (3 now missing)- In towns around me. Our basement, along with half the other people I work with, flooded last night. and it's still raining. Ohio will probably get this weather soon if they haven't already. It's a mess.

My mom just called me from Akron and said they have flooding there too since it's been raining all day. She was like, "it's a good thing you went to the park yesterday."
After witnessing how many rides shut down with a tiny drizzle, I wouldn't recommend going to the park when you know it's going to rain if it takes you a while to get there.
Drunkin,
I am so sorry to hear about MN! That is terrible. I am praying that it lets up for you and that they find those that are missing...alive and well.
Also thanks for the weather warning.
Wow thats horrible DM..im sorry.
And Yeah hopefully this rain lets up!
Total Maverick rides for the 2007 season = 27
Top 5--- 1. Maverick- 2. Millennium 3. Magnum 4. TTD 5. Gemini
Cavs- 2007 Eastern Conference Champions!.-
I was at the park today (Sunday) with rain for most of the day. Almost all coasters were operating with only one train and the park was deserted. Magnum had one train (I've never seen two trains on the transfer at Magnum before). Corkscrew, Iron Dragon, Mantis, Mean Streak, and Mine Ride also all had one train. I think Raptor and Blue Streak did too, but I never got that close to them. Dragster ran occasionally with 5 trains on, MF had 2 trains. Gemini and Maverick never opened.
I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else, but it seems Maverick is having some kind of issues. It went down sometime Saturday afternoon after having a rollback on the lift (and I assume in the tunnel) and hasn't opened with riders since (I did see a few test runs later on Saturday). Today there were clearly work lights on inside the tunnel.
Anyway, the point of this story is that coasters are running in the rain, just at a dramatically reduced capacity. Even with nobody in the park, expect to spend a little time waiting for most rides.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
Maverick was probably closed due to the rain. And it does seem like Gemini is always cautious with rain.
We were on Maverick Saturday afternoon and had a rollback on the lift - but there was not a train stuck in the tunnel (because the other two people from our group were on the train before us). We sat at the base of the lift for several minutes and they finally were able to launch us. The ride op said to expect another roll back, but we actually made it through the course without issue. Maverick opened back up after this, but not for very long. It went down for good around 5:00pm for mechanical and never reopened.
Gemini closes in the rain because of its photo sensors.

I'm pretty sure mechanical problems were keeping Maverick down. There were no signs, but there were quite a few maintenance trucks around the station/tunnel area. I assume Maverick would run in the rain at a reduced capacity like most of the other coasters were doing.

I don't believe it was the rain either but mechanical problems. I was there Friday and it was a nice day but was shut down for a good amount of time.

cmkbabie,
I hope you aren't that psycho Caitie chick that posted on here that everyone attacked. She also stated she was at the park on Friday but was mad that they ran out of blue raspberry icees so her day was ruined.
Just curious, that's all.
No, she's not.
Caitie was a new poster, CMK has been around a while (notice the joined date and number of posts).
Goodbye MrScott
John
