I found this in my school's weekly paper:

I thought you guys might get a kick out of it. I'm not sure where they got that photo from (I'm guessing it is Tomb Raider) and why they thought it was Maverick.
Speaking of the media making mistakes I remember reports that Wicked Twister was going to be an upcharge ride. Anyone remember other mistakes?

2007: Wicked Twister TL
2006: Disaster Transport ATL
2005: Raptor
lol..no, i think the high school is recruiting from the register.
This is the University of Michigan - Dearborn, by the way. Not a high school paper.

What's even worse is that it says Courtesy cedarpoint.com. AND that is says "The Maverick."
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

What's the difference?

HA! so someone in Michigan does use unnecessary articles, not just Ohio!
No, the copy editor is apparently a transplant from the Register being sent back to re-learn Journalism.
Too bad they didn't send him to an actual school.
Goodbye MrScott
John
*blinks* I'm not surprised if that was in the UM-D paper.
*goes off to try to find one*
Even with a copy of the paper in my hand, I still can't quite make out what is in that photo. It doesn't look like anything I have ever seen in the park, even if the photo is supposed to be a collage of rides.
Rider, I assume you are a student at UM-D? *** Edited 4/4/2007 7:20:30 PM UTC by OldCPer*** *** Edited 4/4/2007 7:28:31 PM UTC by OldCPer***

The picture is Tomb Raider: The Ride from Paramount Canada's Wonderland... but in reality it could be any of the Zamperla Volare Flyers, since most of them are clones. Has anyone been on one of these? They just look plain uncomfortable.
Heres the image:
The Maverick?
Now... how did they mistake that for cedarpoint.com?

Tried that... didn't get the picture that was shown.
Side Note: The quality of their Media Photos of the rides are horrid... especially at higher resolutions.

I do not find them uncomfortable, but if you consider it a flyer, they are my least favorite design of flyer.

It is TR:TR, which I did find very uncomfortable on my trip to (P)CW last summer. Uncomfortable and boring. For me, and I've said this before, it has all the worst qualities of a wild mouse and a frat hazing. And zero air time. It's a little like riding a roller coaster, but while wearing a canary cage over your head.
My author website: mgrantroberts.com.
UM-D's paper is notorious for excessive inaccuracies and just crappy articles in general. This part of the advertisement gave me quite a laugh...

I'll admit it, I'm a student at UM-D as well. When I picked up the paper, my eyes were immediately drawn to this advertisement, and I couldn't help but throw the paper down in disgust. Dearborn really is a great school educationally, but crap like this hurts its reputation. Kind of makes me want to cover up the fact that I go there. Thankfully, I'll be on my way to Ann Arbor this fall.
