I've seem quite a few water park specials on tv in the last few months. One of the things that caught my attention is that there are so many new slides and raft rides that Soak City does not have. And I'm talking about attractions like master blasters, bowls, large-raft tunnel rides, funnels, etc that have been around awhile now. Considering the admission price is extra, and pretty high, I would think some new additions would justify the cost more.
I know we are not at 2006 yet, and 2007 seems set on a coaster or water flume in the old WWL spot. But, don't you think new Soak City additions would be a good way for CP to promote the family more and increase attendance? Waterparks are more popular than ever. I'm sure Soak City does fine, but I don't think it's on any top 10 list either...maybe even top 20.

I'm not sure of this, but CF has spent a lot of money into the waterpark at GL to get people there. A Soak City expansion will just give the people in Cleveland another reason to just come to CP. On the other hand, GL doesn't advertise in Detroit area and a Soak City expansion may attract them.

Personally I do not think Cedar Point Should add anything to Soak City.#1 it is doing fine and #2 were are they going to put all the new things you want them to get. They all ready took a huge chunk out of camper village to expand it I really do not think they could do it again or there would be no Camper village. On second thought I never really did like water parks anyway when they are free with admission at other parks like PKI I never go anyway.

I don't think Soak City needs an expansion. I think its probably in the pipeline to have East remodled with new slides and just upgraded as a whole. I could see that happening three or four years down the line.
I think that there are other areas on point that need more attention first.

If you want a master blaster, you can pay $20 to go to castawaybay. *** Edited 3/21/2006 9:42:25 PM UTC by CoasterDevil***
I think a large, long Master Blaster would be the perfect addition to Soak City.

We have one of those at Crocodile Dundee's Boomerang Bay next to PKI. They are really fun about the first four times you ride it, then it seems to be rather boring, and very cold.
However Master Blaster, or even something like the Zip Coaster at Kalahari would be a nice change, and probably get me to buy ride & slide tickets instad of normal ones.
Summer was made for a Cedar Point day~
Unfortunately, my first visit to Soak City left me very unimpressed. While I was happy with many of the attractions, there was absolutely no theming, and hardly any landscaping. These days, new waterparks are built with with lush landscaping, heavy theming, and amazing attractions. Unlike these new water parks, Soak City is a concrete field with many white slides. While Soak City is doing well now, soon I can seeing losing to many of these new colorful, heavily themed waterparks, which are often included in the park's admission.
Soak City has been coasting along overpriced, and not investing much in the actual park. In my opinion Soak City desperately needs an overhaul, or a major expansion. Just some color, or landscaping, or some caribbean themeing would make a world of differance. Until then I wouldn't visit Soak City again, and wouldn't recommend anyone else visit Soak City. However, CF might not want to create more competition for GL.

Michigan's Adventure's water park is better than Soak City. But I'd rather see the money spent on CP, rather than Soak City instead.

I like SC like it is,but I think that a makeover is needed. If some themeing and new rides were added I am sure that attendance would go up. I am not saying anything big,but some flowers would make it look so much better and some of the rides are getting boreing so new rides would be great. Like a bowl slide, a master blaster(even though there is one at CB), and a couple more speed slides would be really cool. Even though Space is a problem I think that it could be done.
Soak City doesn't need theming to be a good waterpark..much like Cedar Point doesn't need it to be a good amusement park. But, I do agree that an addition of some of the newer waterpark attractions might be due.
Why Americas's Rollercoast doesn't have one of the biggest, baddest Master Blaster's around is beyond me.
That being said, Circle B of Camper Village is a good sized piece of land that might be being held back for something more significant than more waterslides. The Lighthouse Point concept has proved tremendously successful.

I think people have to remember that Soak City was installed 10 years BEFORE the waterpark boom in this country. Thats why I said that Soak City East should be remodled. West seems to be in good shape.
You can't look at the newer generation water parks and compare them to Soak City. Its like camparing Mine Ride to Magnum.
I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.
I had ride and slide passes 2 summers ago and didn't even use the slide portion. Why? Soak City didn't appeal to me at all. Everything was standard water park stuff, nothing stood out. Then last summer got ride and slide again and tried it out on the second day. We spent no more than 2 hours. It was pretty fun, but is a concrete and white slide waste land. Some more grass and landscaping or general colour would really spruce it up.
Many people are saying that CF should spend money on CP insead of SC. Why? After 2007 I'm willing to bet that Cedar Point will be all set. Other than minor improvements here and there, Cedar Point is loaded. Why not have a year where a few million dollars are put to use in Soak City. It is a bit outdated.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I really think that SC is in need of a least a landscaping and paint overhaul. The only bit of color that I've seen in there is Splash Zone, and that is just one tiny spot. Now I'm not saying that they should go all out with the themeing, but add some grass and flowers, get some more colors besides white, gray, black, and faded blue. Get some reds, greens, yellows, and some darker blues in there to make the place look nice. Boring colors don't make for an exciting and noticeable expericence.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
I agree Soak City could use a little sprucing up. But its not like their losing business. What they have now and how it looks works for them. There might not be a lot of color with the slides, but Soak City still has a good amount of slides for a water park. The fact that there is a lot of concrete is a good thing. I hate water parks with small midways and no where to sit at the wave pool. I don’t mind brushing up against someone on a small or busy midway in Cedar Point, but I do at a water park. I’m sure we will see some updates in the near future. And some people have said there is not a lot of room left in Soak City. Well that’s just crazy. You don’t need a lot of space for slides. There is plenty of room there. More then enough for more expansions.
Lots of concrete isn't bad. It is nice to have a spacious midway. Having said that, that much concrete can turn people off when everything is concrete. Some landscaping would help it greatly. SC was built way before the waterpark boom, but the public will compare it to newer waterparks. In the world of business, what matters is the current product, not what it was like when it first opened. The public wants to go to the best waterpark, and SC just doesn't measure up to the newer ones. Theming isn't necessary, but just some landscaping and color would be great. *** Edited 3/22/2006 3:45:20 AM UTC by Top Thrill 182***

Landscaping is not even needed. Other then grass in the obvious places along with trees, who cares about flowers. It’s a water park. When I got to Soak City or any other water park, I don’t walk the midways looking at the fine floral displays like I might do at an amusement park. I’m there to swim, slide, or relax at the wave pool. At Cedar Point, its nice to see some of the displays as you walk down the very long main midway. But when I am walking from Breakers Bay to the Speed Slides, I’m not looking for flowers to take pictures of. Like what TopThrill just said, what matters is the current product. Not the current flower, or lack thereof. *** Edited 3/22/2006 3:51:04 AM UTC by 99er***
